By now most
enthusiasts who commute between Curepe and Port of Spain may have seen
this Supercar on the roadway and are still asking themselves "what
was that?".
Its owner
drives it to work daily from Maraval to Curepe. Ladies and Gentlemen,
behold the Nissan Skyline GT-R, arguably the best Supercar to come from
the Land of the Rising Sun. In its current incarnation, the R33 Skyline
GT-R Vspec, it boasts 276HP (closer to 320HP, according to some experts)
from its 2.6L inline-6 twin turbo. The Skyline's specifications are impressive
for a performance car. As with most Japanese performance cars, the capabilities
of the Skyline are largely the result of high-tech wizardry. Computerized
All-Wheel Steering. Computerized All-Wheel Drive. Computerized everything.
Its performance places it among the top Supercars of the world. While
the Skyline is an aggressive streetfighter, it also maintains its very
good road manners and amazing drivability. It is a Supercar you can take
to the supermarket or the dragstrip.
Bunny's
Skyline GT-R has so many scoops, strakes, wings, spoilers, diffuser ducts,
intake vents, wheel arch bulges, speed humps and other add-ons that there's
actually no car left. It drives superbly, though, with a six-speed gearbox
so you can use all the power from its two turbochargers, brakes that stop
you with eyeball-bulging force, and handling that lets you think you're
brilliant. Apart from the slightly bumpy ride, thanks to Bunny using tyres
so low profile that they look like a coat of black paint round the enormous
18-inch alloy wheels, the Skyline is a dream to drive. Moreover, it is
even comfortable to sit in. However, the best bit is the computer game
style display in the glove compartment. It checks up on turbo boost, throttle
opening, exhaust temperature and all sorts of other stuff and it's all
downloadable to a PC. Which all means that you can analyse exactly why
you're losing that precious half-second. Let me not forget to mention
the speedometer reads 320kmph. Bunny has spent the past year bringing
this already formidable ride to greater heights, here are some of the
aftermarket mod's he has added.
