Photography by Narend Sooknarine
NACAM represents North America, Central America and Mexico.
NACAM is the first zone created by the FIA. It is the largest after Europe.
Mr. Spano visited Triniadad to strenghten relationships with racing fraternities in the region. He also wanted to educate local clubs and organisations of the racing administration structure in the world and the region.
Mr. Spano offered oppurtunities to local drivers in international sport.
He thanked Trinidad (TTASA) for assisting in co ordinating the english speaking caribbean.
President of TTASA, Mr. Selwyn Bunny Persad, was recently appointed as NACAM Pro Secretary General. This portfolio has opened discussions for Guyana to become a member of the FIA (World Motorsport Authority).
Mr. Spano offered TTASA FIA internationally recognised certification for racing administaration.
He offered a challenge for Trinidad to secure a racing facility that could possibly host an event for the NACAM Maseratti Series.

Mr. Spano explained that last year the FIA became 100 years old. 100 years of experience. He stated the main objective of the FIA is safety. He urged all clubs and promotional companies to become members of the ASN (TTASA), and acknowledge the minimum safety requirements of the FIA. If events are to be organised it must be with the approval of the FIA ASN otherwise such events are deemed illegal.

Mr. Spano spoke of NACAM Drag championships being held in Venezuela, Panama, and Santo Domingo. He also expressed an interest in Trinidad and Tobago participation in the NACAM Kart Series.

He pleaded with local promoters to become affiliated to the ASN, as only the ASN can represent them in the world of motor sport. He stressed that this was the beginning, and thanked TTASA for their hospitality and support and promised the same with all motor sport matters.
