R/C Model Boat Racing - 26th November 2006
Photography by TTMPBC

The Trinidad & Tobago Model Power Boat Club held their Annual Christmas Championship races on Sunday 26th November 2006 at the Ste Madeleine Gulf and Country Club. The event was sponsored by Big Boys Toys Hobby shop and Castrol. Spectators were treated to a spectacular display of driving skills from the competitors. Big Boys Toys Hobby shop provided a radar gun which clocked many of the boats exceeding 45 MPH.

All together there were approximately twenty five boats competing in five classes (stock, wacker, modified, open and nitro). The Stock class was dominated by the boat Evolution driven by Randall Cheekes, followed by White Heat driven by Robert Correia and Breathless driven by Junior Kissoon coming in a close third.

The Wacker class only saw one entrant, Dennis Moseley with mellow Yellow, so did the Nitro class with the boat Pyramid driven by Damian Da Costa.

The Modified class had Edward De Fretias with Ringleader II placing 1st, Lennard Gopaul with Warpath placing 2nd and Ronald Worthman with Woosh placing 3rd.

The most keenly contested battle was between Miles Ahead driven by Dane Camps and Sea Hawk, driven by Nigel ward. This battle of the heavy weights was dominated by Miles Ahead with sea Hawk following a close second and Christian Barlette with Full Clip taking third spot.

The day’s activities culminated with Big Boy toys performing a very entertaining show with their off road vehicles. The owner of BBT informed us that their off road track at Retrench Village is open to the general public for races.
