And
the damage was bad
.
After
damaging the front of his car at the last race meet, Paul Chung is now
wondering if there is a ploy to keep him out of competition in the mean
Kingswood.
The Outlaw was Outlawed yesterday when Douglas in the Gormandy Rail
steered the rail under high power across the pit in to Paul Chung's
and Zolo's Tent causing pure havok and damage.
THANK GOD not a soul was on the death path. NO ONE WAS INJURED. As usual
the Trinituner Crew was on site, within meters of the accident. Here
is an eye-witness account.
While attempting to view the Audio Expertz Civic, we heard the rail
start and almost immediately there after, it bolted out of the camp
and continued at mid rpm's across the pit, north to south, before slamming
head on into Paul Chung's left rear tyre. It then deflected further
left, scooped up Zolo's green van from behind and threw it into the
grass area bordering the pit. Paul's car hit the Lancer parked in front
of it. Douglas was removed from the wreck almost instantly by a friend.
In all fairness to the Gormandy Camp, from the roar of the engine, it
sounded like reports claim: "a stuck throttle". Lets be honest,
freak accidents do occur.
On
with the good news
. The sun was scorchin and the action
was hottt, especially with the demos from the Audio Expertz Civic. There
were several grudge matches on the track, especially between the Civics,
with Edward Aboud's and Gregory John's Civics duking it out.
As usual Tweety stole the show. Totally unstoppable.
Oswald Stoute also made his mark that day competing in two classes and
winning both, this being a first at Wallerfield. There was also a brief
display from Rafmon's VW Golf GTI.
The boys from Nissan and Suzuki were there doing their sales pitch,
the Baleno looked great, big-up Sterling, Suren and Fabien, good show.
Auto
Sport added new flavour at the Saturday time trials by offering all
street legal vehicles a $1000 cash insentive to compete in dial-up action.
This was interesting enough as mere novices almost cropped the top spot
with their consistent automatic vehicles. Dail-up action is a race against
the clock, with the action being at the finish line. Most races start
with staggered launches as each competitor tries to do the quarter mile
as close to his dialed-up time as possible without breaking it. This
proved great fun for all. Hard luck Turbo Dave. Dave had to forfeit
the final because his SR20DET B13 Sentra overheated.

Well
that's all folks, until next month.
