Sheldon Bisssessar - world's fastest Trini runs 6.8 seconds at 200+mph setting new local and Caribbean speed record.

Sheldon Bissessar and The Party Time Racing Team accomplished yet another amazing feat at Camden Raceway Couva on Sunday 11th May 2008. Sheldon ran a 6.8 seconds e.t. at 200+ MPH in his 2400 Horsepower Top Dragster setting a new local and Caribbean record, just two weeks after clocking a 7.07 e.t at the same venue.

The team has raced this machine from 2005 to 2007 throughout North America, consistently running 6's during which their fastest time recorded was 6.45 seconds e.t. at 213 MPH at Rockingham Dragway, North Carolina. Sheldon Bissessar decided that in 2008 he would bring the car back to Trinidad to stir some interest in the sport from both the authorities and spectators alike. His goal was to do the first six second run by a Nitrous Top Dragster in the Caribbean and just merely weeks after the dragster arrived in Trinidad, he and the Party Time Racing team have accomplished this goal.

Attaining such a feat under such substandard track facilities requires immense driving ability to control such a powerful machine under adverse conditions. Due to his international experience in racing and understanding of racetrack preparation, Sheldon Bissessar and his team spent much time preparing the track to the best of their ability to accommodate the dragster. Sheldon is of the opinion that the authorities should recognize the potential of local drivers to perform at the highest level and the need for a local facility be recognized. Such a facility will also offer learning opportunities for potential racers as exposure to top local and international race cars and teams could be afforded. It would act as an institution, creating the environment required for growth and development, providing a platform for local racers to excel, compete and shatter world records, therefore guaranteeing Trinidad & Tobago a position in the international drag racing arena.

We can look forward to more record breaking feats from Sheldon Bissessar and the Party Time Racing Team. Sheldon says with a smile "Who knows? A 5 second run would be possible in the near future".
