The Trinidad Rocket driving his methanol powered supercharged hemi dragster wins his 4th consecutive race for 2010.
The IHRA Summit Racing Equipment Pro-Am Tour at Mountain Park Dragway Clay City Kentucky saw Sheldon qualifying in the number one spot Friday night with 3.90 seconds at 186 MPH run. With two more qualifying runs on Saturday, Sheldon still managed to hold on to the number one spot. Rocky Flanagan of Tennessee and Melissa Hudson of Florida held on to the 2nd and 3rd spots respectively.
Sheldon won the first elimination round on Saturday. This however came at a price. After taking the car back to the pit area, a rear crankshaft seal was found to be leaking. This required taking apart the entire bottom half of the engine, repairing and reassembling just in time to make it to round two. Sheldon again won this round putting him in the finals up against Andy Johnson.
10:30pm in front of a sold out crowd, jet trucks and 4th of July fireworks, Sheldon the “Trinidad Rocket” came up to the starting line for the big final showdown against Johnson, winner takes all. The two cars left the starting line with lightning quick reaction times and speed. Sheldon was ahead at half track. However 300 feet before the finish line, the car shook the tires violently and veered to the right side of the guard rails. Sheldon quickly corrected this by pedaling the throttle and steering the car back into the groove preventing disaster. This caused the supercharger belt and intake manifold panel to burst shutting off all power to the car. Sheldon’s car was on a very strong run and with the momentum he managed to reach the finish line first to take yet another big win!
Four in a row for Trinidad and Tobago!!!!
Here is a an article taken from www.ProX-TremeDragster.com
The Fourth of July weekend started off with a bang for the members of Pro X-Treme Dragster. While we saw unseasonably mild temps mid week in the lead up to the race, the track was blazin’ Saturday come race time. Our PXD members laid down the gauntlet putting on a great show for the packed stands and raking in the number one, two and three spots for the Quick 8 field! Our members came from far and wide to join us at the Mountain Park Dragway Fourth of July Celebration in Clay City, Kentucky, the 3rd race on the PXD series. Melissa “The Queen” Hutson made her trip all the way from Florida, blowing out trailer tires and breaking toes along the way! First round of qualifying Friday night she blows an oil line, but still runs through the traps with a 4.01 putting her at #3. Melissa drove her royal path into the semi finals to find a poisonous red apple on the tree. Rocky Flanagan out of Tennessee flies down the track at a 3.95 in true Batman crime fighting form to land the #2 spot. But the Joker must have gotten the better of Batman’s motor on Saturday, sending Rocky and his batmobile to the trailer early. Sheldon the Trinidad Rocket made it to #1 after a smooth 3.90 pass off the trailer Friday night. The Rocket encountered a leaky rear main seal in the second round of qualifying putting oil on the back tires as he pedaled it to the finish line. But Sheldon fought the race day gremlins to the finals, taking the win on a coasting 4.13.The PXD members saw many challenges this weekend, and while they came out blistering with the 1,2 and 3 spots, they showed that no win is easy, and you have to fight to the finish. Winning comes from preparation, whether it is at home or at the track. The Pro X-Treme Dragsters still had one of our own in the winners circle at the end of it all this weekend. Sheldon could of passed on fixing his rear main seal, but he didn’t, and for him that was just the beginning of his day.He handled the pressure, applied force, rocketed his way to the finals and even at that found his car coasting to a win after it rips the belt off and blows a burst panel. Some call it lucky, I call it never giving up. No matter what happens, you take the good with the bad and at the end of the day hard work will find you farther down the road than giving up, and Sheldon the “Trinidad Rocket” Bissessar never gives up!It was a beautiful weekend, full of good old fashioned racing and holiday celebration! I have been fortunate to be a part of many weekends like this when time stands still while we take a moment to have some real fun and enjoy the people who surround us. I want to thank Jarred and Shane Cannon and Dallas Clark from Mountain Park Dragway for giving an extra payout to the PXD racers and for a great show. And to top it all off we had our new camara crew from TXC working to get the best footage for the new and upcoming video of whats going to be the best depiction of our sport in some time. But the icing on top, as always, is my red hot smokin’ wife, Carrie, who surprised me with a quick birthday celebration in between rounds on Saturday…..35 and going strong! And while the holiday weekend has come and gone, I say we continue to bring back the fun and tradition of true drag racing at its best……and it starts with PXD!

Thanks.
It’s sad that a person who has accomplished this much is barely even acknowledged in his own country, but then again this is the results of the neglect of motorsports.
I’m proud of this guy.

Might have to change his name to the Trinidad Cruise Missile
But again CONGRATS to Sheldon….man still doing us proud…
When they do finally build a proper motorsports facility in TT they should name the road leading to it the ‘Sheldon Bissessar Boulevard’ or something like that.
