Sunday 24th July 2011 started out beautifully, bright sunshine, great venue and well positioned tents, by 11am the first cars started rolling in, some were even there the night before. The show however started smoothly with about 50 cars and 80% of the sponsors in place by 12.30pm. Despite the presence of rain clouds, the patrons came in at a decent pace to witness what would be a fun event.
At 3pm there were a number of ol school cars ,V8’s and the crowd was swelling, anticipating the arrival of the Barely Legal Crew, and Drop Shop. The Lancer Crew was in full bloom.. The cars in attendance were by now, about 125 strong. And hence the fun began, D.W.O with Kerry at the helm got the whole venue in a trance as he executed some deft moves under calculated acceleration, all the while under close watch of the Marshall’s… the tyre smoke cleared and the crowd open-mouthed in awe of the spectacle of precision they’d just witnessed… Their response? “MORE!”
And so the afternoon went amidst the ebb and flow of the V8 Boys revving up their motors and the thunder emanating from the Llumar 6sec’ dragster…and the whirring and clicking of the Barely Legal “transformer” vans. The crowd stared in amazement at what were clearly the best cars of the show, to name a few: Nizam Ali’s- ‘65 Ford Capri, Andre Lewis’- 10 sec Charger, Paul Francis’- Plymouth Satellite, Peter Morris’ AC Cobra sporting an 800hp super-charged Chevy motor, Paul Lleanos’- ‘68 Camaro and a soon to be finished ‘69 Ford Mach 1 Mustang Fast-back…nick-named ” H’ellanor”. Aleem Ali’s- Barely Legal sponsored.. Honda Civic with it’s 68 screens and attention to detail took the Best New School prize by a wide margin. Of course the biker boys were well represented by a well mannered Horsey and Co’…
At 6.20pm the crowds gathered around as the Royal Purple/Bosch/Kamus/Llumar-Pro Graphics sponsored Giveaway car went to a very deserving: Vikash Maraj..( he would later say that ever since he’d left school, he’d always dreamed of owning a muscle car). So thanks to the sponsors to whom much appreciation goes to.. Royal Purple, Kamus Mufflers, Bosch Batteries, Pro-Graphics/ Llumar Window Film, Automotive Components Ltd, Inter Chem Ltd, Trinidad Hose, and TRINITUNER!
Thus, we bring the curtains down on what all called the most fun-filled car show they’d ever been to…and this folks cements the fact that the T&TV8 Car Club has become known for puttin’ on a Cracker show…..Long live the Ol School!
