TTASA Night Drags at Camden
Article written by TTASA’s Secretary Vera Ali

TTASA wishes to publicly thank  FTFarfan Ltd  for their Kind  sponsorship  at our  the inagural 2012 Night Drag Racing event  which came off in spectacular fashion at the Camden Raceway at Couva on Saturday night 17th March.

Company representatives: Annie Ali-Boodram, Mr. Randall Sieunath   were on hand to witness an amazing display of talent, tuning & , in some cases, sheer bravado, from the best upcoming drag race teams in T&T.  Although Mr. Marcus de Silva could not make it, we wish to say thanks for the wonderful gesture.
Hampers from FTFarfan were well received by the following persons:
Aaron Dowridge, Ricky Dass, Wazeer Khan,  Roshan Rampersad, Peter Laquis, Steve Ramchan, and Kenny Mohammed.
Hats off to the dedicated mechanics, technicians & bodyshop artists who churned out three & 400 horsepower thrillas that rocked the massive crowds AND SHOCKED THEIR OPPONENTS with a multitude of intensely competitive 1/4 mile runs.
This display of talent at ALL LEVELS OF THE DISCIPLINE has been achieved despite the sad fact that motor racing was thrown out of it’s home at the former Wallerfield Racing Circuit. HOW ON EARTH DID THESE ‘PEOPLE’ GET ALL THIS DONE ??
The answer is obvious : by sheer dedication & determination…refusing to let non-sighted government policy throw an industry, literally out on to the streets, and a more than handy brace of people who have produced ‘THE BEST TUNERS, MECHANICS, TECHNICIANS & RACE CARS IN THE CARIBBEAN !!
The move by the motor sport National Governing Body – TTASA- to secure temporary use of Camden for motor racing activities has rescued T&T motor sport and, hopefully, provided the catalyst for government to finalise the lease of lands to TTASA at Waterloo so that realisation of a world-class motor sport facility can start becoming a reality
