Drag Wars: Redemption – Date 13th – 15th April 2012
Location – St. Lucia
Event – International Drag Racing
Landmark Events Limited has joined forces with Absolute Promotions and T&T’s AutoSport Promotions Limited, to stage what is turning out to be the biggest International Drag Racing Event in the English-speaking Caribbean. And with over 75 foreign competitors already signed up to do battle, only time will tell who are the best to claim bragging rights over the quarter mile. With two previous events staged in 2009 and 2010, under the Absolute Promotions banner, the Drag Strip being used has already been acclaimed as one of the best locations for Drag Racing, and possibly the top quarter-mile strip that is not a dedicated racing location in the West Indies.
Standards will be held to the extreme as Landmark Events are renowned for promoting some of the best events in this part of the Caribbean. This is their first venture into the Sport of Drag Racing but those in the know would have already experienced their annual and very prestigious St. Lucia Jazz Festival.
The St. Lucia Government will be taking a serious look at this Event, (and yes they are very much involved) and immediately thereafter determine whether there is the potential for this location to be permanently converted into an International Racing facility. Being in a nodal position with the Sea Port, Airport and Hotels being the major factors for attracting overseas /International spectators, this can be an easy sell for focusing on a new niche market for Sport Tourism.
Contingents from Trinidad and Tobago, Grenada, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, St. Kitts and Nevis are already booked. And of course there are the local St. Lucian racers who are intent on showing that they can hold their own against the best in the Caribbean.
As much as 40 competitors may be heading over from T&T. The cars will be shipped on Thursday 12th April 2012.
With spectator participation in the region of 6,000 persons, a diverse schedule of sporting and social activities has been designed to involve a broad cross-section of the national community including patrons, vendors, drivers, sponsors and entertainers. In addition, the presence of renowed engine buider David Vizard seeks to propel Drag Wars: The Redemption into the upper echelon of regional racing.
Landmark Events – St. Lucia’s Premiere Design and Production Company – invites you to the most anticipated Regional Motorsport Event of 2012, Drag Wars: The Redemption.

Good luck to our T&T contingent!

First TTASA says FIA license holders cannot compete in unsanctioned events.
Then the Vice President of TTASA Mr. Link Sampath posted this
2/ in order to invite foreign competitors from other FIA territories, the event MUST BE SANCTIONED BY TTASA (AS FIA ASN TRINIDAD) through an affiliate.
3/ … It is a fact that NO COMPETITOR FROM ANOTHER FIA ASN CAN COMPETE IN AN OTHER ASN’s TERRITORY WITHOUT THE EVENT BEING SANCTIONED.
RGDS
Was TTASA discouraging drivers from going to St. Lucia because AutoSport was involved in the event?
Now TTASA realised how many competitors were going to St. Lucia despite TTASA’s dumb rules so they changed their tune. Suddenly TTASA executive begging St. Lucia to have a meeting.
TTASA is trying to remain important. St. Lucia promoters are smart enough not to be coerced by TTASA to follow FIA rules which are really not required.
I would like to hear Link’s comment on how over 30 local FIA license holders are competing in an international unsanctioned event in another country.
I expect I will not get a reply though. Over two weeks now since TTASA had their "Inaugural National Drag Racing Championship Series for 2012" and we cannot get a single result about who the winners are.
Remember this?
We cannot get results from that either, but TTASA claims their President went to St. Lucia to "ensure" the T&T drivers are not "disadvantaged".
Can we get some answers Mr. Link?

STRESS ON THE PORT TODAY YES
As though the Trini racers stress with the arrangements for return shipping was not stressful enough, back on the Caricom Port today Tuesday 17th April, one idiot could very well cause serious continuing embarrassment for all future attempts by racers to go and race abroad.
The usual lengthy delays were encountered in processing the documents to have the cars and bikes delayed. Yes, everyone on the Port was getting tired and frustrated. Especially when one of the reasons coming out of Customs that some letter should have been submitted to Customs beforehand, indicating that cars were going to an event overseas. Wonder if that have any FYAA connection?
And then this Mad Cow individual does the unthinkable, he proceeds to have his car and the Skyline, and one other crazy man just drive out of the port without the customs clearance! So the Customs officer gets real mad and demands to get the information on who those fools were. Calls were made to this mad cow and he responds that his family sick, he get frustrated, he already get disappointed in St. Lucia, so he do what he had to do.
The easiest thing for the OC Customs to do was threaten that none of the cars leaving until these three idiots come back with their cars. One did come back.
Just see what will happen now. More stress for racers going up the islands to race. A bad name for all the senior people who step in to speed up the process. Racers will continue to be looked at as having no discipline, and Customs will be waiting for the next time.
This man continues to show little respect for authority.
Remember this?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4kfj7RtPNjQ
And this? Who is going to belt this idiot who seems to have no respect for authority?
Meanwhile still no answer from TTASA as yet about the results from their championship and qualifying for the national team.

unfortunately that’s the TTASA way.
Unfortunate MYSA doesn’t grasp their own authority. How could you let a foreign authority tell you who to place in a role? Our coutry’s Independence is more than a public holiday.
