As the region starts preparations for round three of the Seaboard Marine Caribbean Motor Racing Championship at South Dakota in Guyana on November 15/16, we can finally bring you our report of the Return to Wallerfield. Apologies for the delay, guys, but it has taken a while to sort through all the images – there were rather a lot, as you’d expect after the first race meet for so many years – while some minor changes to the CMRC points system have also meant cross-checking results to ensure complete accuracy.

CMRC Round 2 to be held at Wallerfield this weekend!

This weekend’s highly anticipated return to Wallerfield and hosting of the second round of the Seaboard Marine Caribbean Motor Racing Championship (CMRC) is an occasion of pride for everyone involved, and not just for the Trinidad & Tobago Automobile Sports Association (TTASA). Fans who were last there in 2006, and also those visiting this historic motor racing venue for the first time have an exiting weekend of racing ahead.

I had the opportunity to attend the 2014 leg of the WRC/ADAC FIA Rallye Deutschland this year. The rally started off with Sebastian Ogier in the lead followed by Jari Matti Latvala and Andreas Mikkelsen; which seemed to predict a simple 1,2,3 for the Volkswagon Motorsport Team.

With another Disappointing Cancellation of the much anticipated THA Tobago Rally Festival, The TTRC held its High speed Stages #5 for the 2014 calendar. We are back at the Reform rally stage, a favorite for most of the local competitors due to its fast pace and sometimes tricky 90° corners.

TTRC Snake Bites Again

The Trinidad and Tobago rally club held its third event for the year 2014 at the newly re-introduced and apparently, very famous, Snake rally stage located in Preysal Village, Couva. The stage brought back to life for the International Rally Trinidad event which was held just before this one and here we are again.

Wallerfield to be revived for CMRC Regional Racing Meet

The Trinidad & Tobago Automobile Sport Association (TTASA) has acquired use of the circuit track at Wallerfield to host a leg of the CMRC regional circuit racing event here on August 24th 2014. Current TTASA President Mr. Robert Amar has confirmed that the association’s members are working feverishly to have the facility ready in time for the upcoming event. He said that”this event MUST take place”.

Sunday morning: 10:00am, where were you? Well one would expect us to be attending a church service of some sorts, but no, here we are in Arima Race Club; roasting tires and hitting rev limiters. Whatatatata! Mad men from around the little island popped up with their machinery ready to cause damage, and not for one second think there was only rear wheel drive cars. No no no. AutoNation’s EK civic was there. Yes, a civic. Fitted with thinner tires to the back allowing the car to break traction easier this little yellow thing was quite enjoyable to watch as it looped loops and shredded rubber.

Top Gear Festival Barbados thrilled petrol-heads everywhere today who were treated to the first of two days of high-octane motoring action. Hosts Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond,together with guest presenters Eddie Jordan, Lee McKenzie and Tiff Needell, were on hand to dole out a non-stop schedule of motoring antics and visitors witnessed The Stig and key members of the Top Gear Live Stunt Driving Team take to the track in a series of stunts, races and challenges.

TTKA Race Day #1 2014

The Trinidad and Tobago Karting Association held its first championship event for this season on April 27 after several false starts during the first quarter of this year. Track conditions were ideal as the weather was warm and sunny in east Trinidad providing ideal racing conditions for competitors at the ARC. There were two fully subscribed classes competing but the protagonists in attendance had a wonderful day of competitive action.

With the staging of this first event, with the new course layout, and the new system of classifying cars, we all know that there are rough edges to be polished out. With change comes these hurdles that WE all shall work together to tidy up.
