The Rally finished with the remaining competitors putting on a show for the Mayor of Chaguanas, in the ever popular Mayor’s Cup in Saith Park. The short 1.4km tarmac super special was packed to a capacity crowd, and of course it was donut time to bring Rally Trinidad 2012 to a fitting close. Jeffrey Panton deftly powered through the streets of Chaguanas to win the Mayor’s Cup with the fastest time and received his award from the Mayor His Worship Orlando Nagessar.

The local BMW dealership, Richmond Motors of the ANSA Automotive Group, hosted the Trinidad leg of the BMW M Power Tour at the Hasley Crawford Stadium, Port of Spain. The event was held over a 3 day period and included orientation, test drives and hot laps with the very able driving instructor Donnie Isley from the BMW Driving School in North Carolina.

After a disastrous start in the previous rally, on his much anticipated return to rallying – Ainsley “Mr. Action” Lochan with co-driver Robert Cadiz, in his STAG/ULTRA/JOSEF’s EVO IX, showed his top rivals that he is still a force to be reckoned with, by winning the final rally aptly named Rally Finale Reformed, albeit a slim margin over the Shell Helix/Intercontinental Shipping sponsored EVO X of John Powell and Jason Costelloe.

On a rain soaked day, Paul Bourne managed to take top honors in last weekends “Sun and Stars” rally in Barbados. Driving his 2007 Ford Focus WRC he beat a field comprising of 5 world rally cars. This field included T&T’s John ‘Penti’ Powell in his brand new Subaru Impreza s14 WRC machine.

John “Penti” Powell who recently took delivery of a new Subaru Impreza S14 WRC, flew in the car to Barbados for its first ever rally, taking place on the island this weekend. The Subaru Impreza S14 WRC, which is the first in the Caribbean, was given a shakedown at the Vaucluse race park alongside Barbados’ very own Roger “The Sheriff” Skeete in his Subaru Impreza S12 WRC.

Fire One emerged the overall winners of Great Race this year with Stampede coming in 2nd and Gulf Dragon 3rd. Other favourites including 17 time winner Mr. Solo and newcomer Monster both broke down early on in the race and were unable to complete the race. Heatwave, Extreme Measures, Hero III and Energiza brought in 4th to 7th places in that order.

The final regatta for powerboat racing until The Great Race 2011 in August. With big teams such as Rage, Stampede, White Heat, Too-High etc. Don’t miss that! Team Alien as usual giving big air with massive jumps, almost jumping over one of the buoy markers. In all, all the boats gave a strong performance, meaning that you would not want to miss the epic action @ Great Race 2011. Big ups to the skipper of Obelix for the TriniTuner crew to come aboard to shoot!
