On a rain soaked day, Paul Bourne managed to take top honors in last weekends “Sun and Stars” rally in Barbados. Driving his 2007 Ford Focus WRC he beat a field comprising of 5 world rally cars. This field included T&T’s John ‘Penti’ Powell in his brand new Subaru Impreza s14 WRC machine.

John “Penti” Powell who recently took delivery of a new Subaru Impreza S14 WRC, flew in the car to Barbados for its first ever rally, taking place on the island this weekend. The Subaru Impreza S14 WRC, which is the first in the Caribbean, was given a shakedown at the Vaucluse race park alongside Barbados’ very own Roger “The Sheriff” Skeete in his Subaru Impreza S12 WRC.

Fire One emerged the overall winners of Great Race this year with Stampede coming in 2nd and Gulf Dragon 3rd. Other favourites including 17 time winner Mr. Solo and newcomer Monster both broke down early on in the race and were unable to complete the race. Heatwave, Extreme Measures, Hero III and Energiza brought in 4th to 7th places in that order.

Maiden victories where the order of the day during the latest round of this year’s TTRC high speeds rally stages. The tricky Cedar Hill stage once again claimed many victims, with a host of cars running off throughout the day. The competiveness of this season has been amazing so far and with only 2 rounds of racing left and top honors to be decided the upcoming events promise to be interesting for both fans and rally teams alike.

The final regatta for powerboat racing until The Great Race 2011 in August. With big teams such as Rage, Stampede, White Heat, Too-High etc. Don’t miss that! Team Alien as usual giving big air with massive jumps, almost jumping over one of the buoy markers. In all, all the boats gave a strong performance, meaning that you would not want to miss the epic action @ Great Race 2011. Big ups to the skipper of Obelix for the TriniTuner crew to come aboard to shoot!

Legal Import held their first Jet Ski Racing event at Pier 1 on Sunday. The event attracted quite a bit of attention given the popularity Legal Import and it’s owner Yancy Mohammed both have in the world of local motorsport, boating and personal water-craft. Around 20,000 spectators turned up as Red Bull held their first ever Flugtag in the Caribbean right here in T&T at Williams Bay Chaguaramas. The TriniTuner phototakeouters were out in full force from around 5:30am snapping up the action. This isn’t motorsport, but the big lime, competitiveness and pumped up energy levels were definitely still there. Congrats to Team “Obi WANted Red Bull” on their winning performance!!!
