The 2015 Seaboard Marine Caribbean Motor Racing Championship (CMRC) is heading for Bushy Park Barbados next month with one of the most competitive line-ups ever assembled and, according to one former race-winner, the prospect of a far more level playing-field for two- and four-wheel-drive cars.

I’m sure at some point in your life you’ve encountered a tiny aggressive dog- all bark and skin teeth but walk up close and they shut right up.
Unfortunately this weekend Tropical Storm/Hurricane Danny was of the same caliber. Horrendous weather all week caused the Trinidad and Tobago Automobile Association (TTASA) to cancel their National Circuit racing event yet the weekend brought sunshine. But the event already cancelled what we supposed to do?

The repaving of the Wallerfield, now to be renamed the Frankie Boodram International Raceway at Wallerfield, has not only returned Trinidad and Tobago to the Caribbean Circuit Racing fraternity, it has reinvigorated, re-emphasized and replenished its hope of achieving a country championship in the CMRC. The large turnout of local participation all clamouring to fly The ‘Sun-Sea-Sand Banner’ added to the new found sense of patriotism, pride and splendour that combined to host the second leg of the Caribbean Motor Racing Championship. SeaBoard Marine CMRC Round 2 2015 – Wallerfield, Trinidad

Honours were shared at the Wallerfield Raceway over the weekend (June 20/21) when the Trinidad & Tobago Automobile Sports Association (TTASA) hosted round two of the 2015 Seaboard Marine Caribbean Motor Racing Championship. There were eight different winners in the nine CMRC races, while TTASA deserves great credit for completing its programme, as intermittent “monsoon” conditions caused a number of delays.

Qualifying for Seaboard Marine CMRC Wallerfield 2015

While lap records don’t count today in qualifying, Kristian Jeffery in his Evo 8 of Guyana did a qualifying time of 40.256, Kristian Boodoosingh in his Evo 6 of Trinidad did a time of 41.183 and Gerrard Carrington in his Evo 7 of Trinidad did a time of 41.651. The record set last year was 41.693 by Franz Vurschuur in Franklyn Boodram’s Renault Megane Trophy Cup Car.

With the SeaBoard Marine CMRC Round 2 easing it’s way up into calendar, drivers took the opportunity to test themselves and cars on the newly paved Wallerfield International Speedway while also doing the track a favour by laying down some rubber.

First Test & Tune at newly resurfaced Wallerfield International Raceway.

TTASA has been busy preparing for the upcoming Trinidad leg of the SeaBoard Marine Caribbean Motor Racing Championship to be held at the newly re-paved Wallerfield International Circuit track, but they aren’t the only ones. The competitors have been waiting all year for a chance to test their cars and get valuable seat time on the track which was only resurfaced last week.
