St. Lucia’s Annual Drag Racing Event “Drag Wars: Retribution” comes off this weekend and will be staged at the dis-used portion of the Hewanorra airstrip, locally referred to as The Base. For those who have been to Drag Racing Events throughout the Caribbean, we confirm that this is currently the best existing quarter mile drag strip, and this without any special development.

T&T`s Rishi Kanick said a prayer as he attended the special Sunday church service for all racers of the National Hot Rod Association`s (NHRA) Dollar General Four Wide Nationals at Zmax Dragway, North Carolina which formed part of the final day of weekend action from 19-21 April 2013. Reaching the final round of an NHRA event and going up against five time World champion Top Alcohol Dragster, Bill Reichert, was literally that prayer being answered for Kanick.

Great entries, as good a spectator attendance as we can hope for at this venue and the gradual improvement of organization in an ever evolving environment. Two major areas we focused on were to increase spectator covered-bleacher accommodation, and this we did but…. was still shown to be wanting more. And gaining access to the cleared area to the South for more parking. In both instances we were dragged on until the last minute to keep our word, but we persevered and delivered in the end.

AutoSport Racing continued in its tradition of hosting another motor sport Event that many considered one of the best in the Drag and Wind(ing) series, at what must now be considered the prime home of Motor Sport in T&T today – the Car Park of the Arima Race Club. Unbelievable but true in this country, and one many consider the richest in the English-Speaking Caribbean!

Marking Trinidad & Tobago’s 50th Anniversary of our Independence, the Golden Jubilee Edition of “Trinidad & Tobago – Terrific and Tranquil” publication includes features of T&T as diverse as our many cultures. The one feature that stood out for us here at TriniTuner.com is of course Motorsport. This two page feature included photos of recent rally, karting and drag racing events as well as circuit racing in its heyday at Wallerfield in the 80’s. The major accomplishment for local motorsport in this publication however, is the recognition of Sheldon Bissessar in the list of “50 Exemplars and Icons of T&T”, a list populated by great icons such as Pat Bishop, Rudranath Capildeo and Brian Lara.

Drag & Wind #5 was successfully executed on Sunday 24th June at ARC Car Park. We always speak of the mix of competitors and cars that can and have been able to participate in this type of Event. And another major plus, is, in spite of Rain, the event goes on. When there is just too much we do shut down the timing system for safety and to avoid damage to the electronics, but the major issue is the delay that inevitably occurs.
