San Fernando Grand Prix 2010

In 1986, Trinidad & Tobago was treated to a spectacle of Motorsport that many remember as one of the greatest events they ever witnessed. The effect was such that spectators rushed on to the roads and racing had to be stopped after the second race. So great was their passion for seeing the streets of San Fernando alive with the glorious sound of full race machines at full throttle.

TTKA Karting #7

This had to be one of the wettest karting events of all time. The inclement weather stopped racing after just two class races as officials pondered on canceling the event. Water pooled up, ankle high, on the northern side of ARC as everyone huddled under the tents for shelter from the rain and wind. The showers eventually stopped and after making some adjustments to the course, the officials restarted the event and racing continued for the rest of the day under an overcast sky. The water splashes and sliding made racing even more exciting for both competitors and spectators and really tossed up the usual finishing order!

TTKA Karting #6

The weather held up perfectly all day with no need to change from slicks. The first cadet race didn’t go so well, as there was an accident with the spill causing a young driver to suffer from a broken arm. A call later confirmed that he was otherwise ok and racing went on for the rest of the day without a hitch, as racers battled for points leading up to the championship. The podium told the story at the end of the 6th TTKA championship event for 2010.

TTKA Karting #5

Mid morning showers raised everyone’s eye brows last Sunday as it looked to be a day for grooved racing tyres, rain suits and plenty of spins. It so happens that the whether quickly turned around and the day was quite a scorcher. Even with the absence of the shifter karts the action didn’t seem to let up. The day ran rather smoothly and the TTKA had enough time to put on a display race which saw racers from almost every class compete and provide plenty of entertainment.

TTKA Karting – Round 6 – 16th August 2009

The Karting club had the first event on their brand new track layout. The pit, now relocated to the southern end of ARC, now sports a new 2nd story airconditioned control tower. The rain made it extra difficult for competitors on this course, having to now learn where all the new braking points are. This new, much faster course will certainly make the rest of the season very interesting.
