WTK....Corolla RunX/Corolla Fielder Z Aero Tourer

Postby DavetoExtreme » January 5th, 2007, 7:05 pm

How is the performance part availability for these cars? :?: TRD has some engine performance parts but I'm not sure of the other brands. Thanks for any information :!: 8-)

2zz-ges have a few performace parts now.....esp with this engine being in the celica. They were slow in coming out...but now starting to pick up.

Most noticeably......the trd and blitz supercharger is available. Crower now has full stage 1 to full race cam kits. I've seen some clutch kits.....lsds for the 6sp box.

Tien, Koni, Eibach have suspsension parts. Camcon has a vvti controller. Some third parties have turbo kits.....but some people are skeptical about the reliability of them.

These parts are more tailored to the USDM Celica GT/GT-S. At present, Koni, and Bilstein make sport suspension/coilove kits for the Celica. I'm not sure if the suspension is the same (I highly doubt)...but those same catalogs (from Koni and Bilstein) only list shock upgrades for the Corolla....and not the 2002/3 NZE.

If you wanna get suspension upgrades DavetoExtreme,, then you may need to look at the Aussie or Singporean market, where the Run X is more popular. You may be able to get TEIN S-Tech springs or something like that, but that does not fall under the "performance category" for suspension.

^^i got the koni, bilstein and tein catalogs....and they do have specific suspension upgrades for the zne/zze corolla sedans and wagaon.....different from those for the celica which had a much diff suspension. Koni specifically has koni yellow adjustables for the fielder/runx which they had desingned for the european corollas after 2003. You're going to find those entries under corolla combi (which is what they called the wagon in europe) and verso for the hatchback. The same applies to Bilstein....forget looking for japanese applications.....you have to look for the european equivalent.

e.g. the zze sedan/wagon koni front shocks carry part number 8610-1416
the zze sedan/wagon koni rear shocks carry part number 80-2844
the zze hatch sport koni front shocks carry part number 8640-1414

Eibachs sport-pro kit for the e12s (zze) carry part number 10-82-012-02-22

You're wrong about teins options as well. In addition to the s-tech and h-tech springs...they now offer the full basic wagon damper, super wagon damper and now released the awwwweesomee......gt wagon damper kit....which had 16 levels of bound and rebound adjustment....camber plates.....and is edfc compatible!!

Here's the tein application link http://www.tein.co.jp/e/price_list/appli/t_toyota_f.html

You have to do some serious searching to find some of these zze12x parts......then your bigger problems is sourcing them....unless u go to japan frequently.

Yeah the fielder in the display is a 1.8...but its no mine........mine doesnt have the skirt kit...

Still looking at the catalogs I was emailed from KONI, and Bilstein. I still don't see anything for the NZE/ZZE Corolla. The KONI yellow sport struts are great upgrades..I was even considering them for my car. But my major problem is that the OEM Shock cartridge (I assume this applies to 'rollas as well) will actually have to be cut out of the the OEM strut, and the KONI cartridge will have to dropped in (with some drilling), and will have to be welded into place. If one is prepared to go through all that...then it's a fantastic upgrade IMO.

Now KYB does have something for the NZE/ZZE...but from what I'm seeing, only the KYB GR-2 Shocks are available. These aren't as "racy" as the AGX's...they were more for a "comfort/sport" lineup.

Tien, Koni, Eibach have suspsension parts.

Proof again that the Celica has more aftermarket parts than the RunX......Ground Control offers Eibach Pro springs (with sleeves) for the Celica (match with what type of shocks you use, be it Tokicios, KYB's, Koni's)...but nothing for the RunX.

^^strange....i have it printed out here. From the Koni site, the part description says for zze120 and zze123 and zze121. No doubts about it. This was right off their site too. Some of the sites have the zze12x as the E12 chassis.

Yeah i only found the kyb gr-2s as well. Not such a hot upgrade....so i didnt bother with it. No AGX application as you said...so...bleah

Yeah....i expect there to be more parts for the celica than the runx and fielder z. Best u bite the bullet and buy one of the tein kits yes.

Hey...don't underestimate the GR-2's though. I mean...KYB's top end shock is the AGX....but the AGX is too stiff for most folks.

The GR-2 will improve handling, and will work with stock springs...w/o giving too harsh a ride. The only downside is that one can't adjust damping like in the AGX.

Koni also offers the "red" struts (as opposed to the koni sport yellows) for a more comfort oriented ride...with improved handling.

Yeah......i was looking at adjustables because at the time i was considering solodex seriously.....put that on the back burner now. The gr-2 in truth are a decent alternative....but still not adjustable. I was gonna put the Koni yellows on the Tein H-techs.....i also didnt want the car excessively low. But you know those fielders......they're like fricking suvs with that ground clearance.

Anyway...put that all on the back burner and say i'll just get a Z when i change cars.....and those front suspensions are different from the Ss. But that might be a loss now since we only gonna get 10,000 roro units a year. :?
