QG15DE Stock Intake

Postby Chrome412 » March 7th, 2008, 4:01 pm

I have a QG15DE on a Wingroad and on the downward bend just before the stock airbox intake there is a small kinda square box with rounded edges and it has a hole in it that connects directly to the plastic intake piping. The "plug" just snaps on and there is a ball and stem that slips into a groove on the intake. It is removable and it just covers a round opening into the intake piping. There is nothing in the "plug", its just hollow. Anyone know the purpose of this?

I thought that the big black box behind the fender was responsible for silencing the intake noise. Removing the little box doesn't seem to affect either noise or performance.

Any significant improvement in performance after removing that big box?? I'm still running the drop in K&N with all the stock intake intact. The car feels like it could do so much more than I'm currently getting out of it. I removed the CAT and got a feeling like improved breathing but I want to try some simpler mods to extract what I can out of this poor engine...still trying to get over my previous VTEC Civic for performance.
