As suspeck is asking, what is:
(1) the custom duty and total charges to clear a 600cc - 750cc bike at the port and what documents are needed

(2) the cost and the procedure to register it. Is the US Title (Certified Copy equivalence) in the name of the person in the US and a receipt of your purchase all that is needed in terms of documents?

On another note, if the bike has a Salvage Title (written off until repaired) can it still be brought in, repaired and registered locally??

if u looking to bring in a RORO car its preety easy...but doing everything urself is kinda tedious. its easier to use guys who do that kinda stuff and pay them a comission for it

saved me about $50,000 ...that works for me

Am I right in calculating that its gonna cost $57,500 in MVT to bring in a vehicle with 2300 cc?

is it $25 per cc for all the cc's

or $25 per cc for each cc over 1599 cc?

Any individual can import a NEW diesel van. No import license in required but upon clearing off the port you pay 100% M.V.T instead of 75% with roll-on roll-off vehicles.

"15% of the C.I.F. Value + Customs Duty = VAT Payable"

Why do we pay VAT (a tax) based on a duty/tax that has to be paid anyway?

dadio already quoted the cc brackets and thecost per cc in those brackets.

MVT on a roll on roll off vehicle is 75% of the total MVT

cc rating between 2000 to 2499 was previously $21 a cc now it has gone up to $25 per cc.

a 2300cc would be $57,500 LESS 25%

MVT on a 2300cc would be $43,125.00

Also bear in mind that MVT is calculated on the EXACT cc rating of a vehicle. Most time the actual cc's of an engine is a bit below the stated cc. for instance a 2300cc engine is actually about 2290cc's

^^^^ so i'm taking it that the above calculations are the current ones ? Cause what is not making sense here is that in the past we had category ranges for the CCs and a specific rate for anything in that bracket, for example:

1600 to 1798 - $8.00 per cc
1799 to 1998 - $15.00 per cc

Now we have:
1600-1799 cc from $4 to $8 per cc
1800-1999 cc from $8 to $15 per cc

????? IS this correct with both the CC & Price ranges ????

I don't understand what is confusing you. When we say 1600-1799cc from $4 to $8 we mean that for an engine cc rating of between 1600cc to 1799cc the previous rate per cc WAS $4.00 but was increased to $8.00 per cc. Forget the first figure. The latter is the current cost per cc. The first is what it was prior to the budget.

Ok I hear you... The way it's written it's as though 1600-1799 cc from $4 to $8 per cc meant that it ranges from $4 to $8 dollars when it should have said 1600-1799 cc went from $4 to $8 per cc

Cool...So the latter is the new rate

as a returning resident you are exempted from certain taxes... will get more details and let you know. I believe as a returning resident you pay NO MVT. but will find out soon.
