Press clutch pedal in, rev engine, Release pedal, smoke tyres/break gears.

It just means you engage the clutch quickly rather than slipping it in.

It's what young fellas do when they trying to show off. Usually ends up breaking the weakest link in your driveline.

If you feel the need to do a burnout, that can be done without dumping the clutch.

While it may not be the best thing for your car (yes, something may break), with certain engines (especially smaller, high rev engines e.g. variable timing ones), it's the only way to get higher 1/4 mile or 0-60 times.

My 1.6L 20V VVT needs about 5,500rpm for it's best launch, a larger, boosted engine could probably launch much lower.
