Rebuilding a 97 Accent engine

Hi all.I'm a cheap skate but learning more about cars.Would it be impossible to rebuild my 97 Acent 1.3L Carb. engine?What do I need?

Accent engine sellin for less that $1000

You might come out cheaper in the long run by just changing it to a small stock turbo engine.Reason being the costs of doing the rebuild and then finding turbo etc..and the engine doesn't hold out long after.
You don't want to end up spending more than double.

i was thinking about supercharging my accent 1.5 EFI and doing a CAI using piping from Trinidad ho's and getting a Genric Filter K&N type cone.
