WTK: taking apart a 2 piece RIM

Postby capstar » July 9th, 2012, 11:21 pm

Im wondering how safe it is to take apart a 2 piece RIM and put it back together (I plan on polishing the lips and repainting the centers) Anyone knows where this can be done?

Thanks in advance

you can do that yourself just make sure you buy new bolts before you put it back together

Just use regular silicone at the joins when re-assembling the rim to prevent air leaks.

if its a 2 piece wheel you do not separate the barrel in half u dont need to silicone anything there
its just a center and the wheel barrel :|

white stuff in the threads is thread locker, not sure about white stuff in the joining surface. I recommend thread locker when re assembling. When you separate it you will know if there should be any material on the mating surface.
