BEWARE!!!Nissan Tiida Latio CVT transmission

Postby turnkey » September 8th, 2014, 10:00 pm

I imported a Nissan Tiida Latio motor car from japan personally, I noticed that there was a 2-3 second delay with the CVT transmission when placed in drive and reverse gears. I went to ASHNICK AUTOMOTIVE SERVICES LTD. at #1 Leslie AVE. Cipero Road San Fernando. The guys there indicated that there may be a problem with the seals in the transmission and that they are sure that if I changed the oil in the tranny this problem will be solved. They recommended that I switch to the Schaeffer's brand transmission oil.I did so at a cost of TT$995.00.the problem wasn't solved but continued. I decided to research the brand online only to realize that the Schaeffer's brand transmission oil isn't recommended for use in CVT transmissions. this is the info on the website.
TD-204SAT Page 3 All-Trans® Supreme is not recommended for use in those passenger cars and light duty trucks that specify the use of Ford Type F, Ford M2C33F, Ford Mercon® C, Ford Mercon® LV, Automatic Transmission Fluid Type G, GM Dexron® VI, Honda CVT, Honda Genuine, Nissan CVT type fluids or in dual clutch transmissions (DCT) or continuously variable transmissions (CVT). persons with similar problems please beware of this and don't make the same mistake as I did.I still have to change the entire transmission

Sorry to hear that but remember is a used car eh. We don't know what the vehicle went through abroad before being shipped to Trinidad. I think all you need to do is use the correct transmission fluid in the vehicle.

Pal,
I have a CVT trans and I was getting a stutter like movement when pulling off so I did the below upgrades -
1. I installed an external Trans cooler.
2. Changed the fluids - Mine carries NS2 CVT oil - only used this type ( under the Bonnet has a OEM sticker shows this ) if the OME specify this OK.
3. I put in an additive - Nano Energiser - it works .

You need to flush the trans ASAP - damage may occur already - brace yourself.
good luck pal.

That Nano Energiser you used, that was in the engine right?

why would you use the original fluid and then put an additive that changes the composition of the recommended fluid?

normal 4 speed automatic transmission- any fluid that meets or exceeds the nissanmatic spec D,J,K specification.

CVT- nissan NS2 oil.

you can try to rebuild the CVT transmission OP- provided you get genuine nissan parts - and a competent and reliable mechanic.

Ohh, didn't know this.
But wouldn't that be a bit 'harsh' to use on a transmission? I will hadda PM the retailer on that one.

I don't think that transmission reach the stage to be rebuilt as yet. He just needs a good transmission flush.

Their isn't a solution or brand selling an actual flush for transmissions. A flush is just the term used when all the oil has been drained from a transmission and replaced with new oil.
This is not just a regular oil change drain and refill. For the flush, the torque converter has to emptied as well. Draining from the transmission drain bolt below the car will not let all of the oil out. A machine needs to extract/flush the oil out of the transmission.
Check a transmission specialist for this.

i recently added lubegard complete CVT transmission fluid to a Nissan CVT requiring NS1 fluid. The issue was resolved, intermittent bucking that was occurring eased on the fluid change and stopped completely within about 5 days of changing the fluid.I'm not saying that this is a miracle fluid, but, it is pretty good.

Its also NS2 compatible

Use a neutra in it,it would fix the problem by swelling and conditioning the seals in the transmission, empty the entire pint into ur transmission oil and see the results. It costs 75$
