Subaru question

Postby Hyperion » October 19th, 2014, 2:08 pm

How expensive is it to maintain a Subaru vehicle, as opposed to Nissan, Toyota, Mitsubishi etc. and how difficult is it to locate a mechanic specializing in Subaru maintenance?

Are the parts much more expensive than other Japanese vehicles

to answer your questions.

1. vehicle is abit more expensive to maintain than the nissan cant say againt toyota, mitsubishi & others. once the vehicle is properly taken care of and not molested you'll have no issues

2. there are ppl on tuner who can recommend a mechanic to you

however i do have a question.
what is a subaru specalist? is it someone who can only fix subaru and cant do anything else.??
reason why i'm asking as currently there is NO such qualification in the world as subaru specialist.

that is like saying i'm a dell specialist- again there is no such thing is the world.
the body that deals with computers and such is comptia.
once certified you can fix any brand of pc's

the qualification for automotive repair is ASE
once certified ANY tech can repair any make / model of car, using the proper procedures and the factory service manual to service the car accordingly... not the "mango tree method".

only thing the tech may not have is special tools required to do a job faster / easier as these are only given out to local stealerships (which they dont use)

be warned, theres a story of a tuner who blow up a nex tuner subaru engine tryin to play technician and tune it....older heads will know the full story...all i know is a man engine mash up.

so be warned who playin technician.

I can recall seeing that Subaru had the highest reliability of any automotive brand, worldwide. I had a WRX that was bullet proof reliable. There was nothing special about regular maintenance. Full time awd was hard on the tires, though.
