i think the navara in terms of looks and power, but the hilux for it's off road durability! the hilux has a higher ground clearance of it's under carraige! correct me if i'm wrong!!! where biggy? he should answer this!

the safety test with the navara was only with those coming out of the european market and it was only a matter of the airbags was deploying a milli second to late and it was corrected

the ones out of japan didn't have this problem and that s where the ones down here come from so we dont have to worry

rite here daryl....i now see this post

to be objective:

NAVARA: Pros: higher HP, higher torque, more stable (lower ground clearence), better ride, heavy duty transmission (or 6-speed manual), nicer exterior / interior (well to me anyway  )
Cons: common fuel rail and pump more sensitive to bad diesel, softer suspension needs more adjustment (not as bad as the older Frontiers), sometimes you get a backlash of the tranny on the diff when stopping which is OK but may irritate the driver

VIGO: Pros: more rugged / better for offroading, less sensitive to bad diesel, more aftermarket parts,
Cons: suspension too high, higher diesel consumption (bigger engine), tranny not as rugged (in Auto models)

and just to note: the Navara that scored the 1-star crash rating was the 2008 Aventura model, which is Euro spec. the strikes were for late airbag deployment, extra stuff on the dashboard (GPS etc) causing head injuries and foot injuries from the pedals. the Navs we get here are 2007 Outlaw double cab out of Thailand but are JDM spec, which was NOT the model tested. the 07 Outlaw scored a respectable 3 stars

Navara 2.5L 172HP 403N-m/ 297ft-lb vs the Hilux Vigo 3.0L 170HP both diesel

And Navara comes 4.0L V6 as well (266HP) 385N-m/ 284ft/lb torque Petrol engine
vs Toyota 4.0L V6 236HP 266ft-lb/ 361N-m Torque.

(However in Australia toyota has a 4.0L V6 Supercharged with 306HP) but that don't count
