If i remember correctly the website was Wilmarcorp.com, its a Performance Tool specialty socket.

Any Tiida enthusiasts are welcomed to come by my garage to handle the plugs das no scene

Based on my experience with the HR engines the symptoms of worn or bad plugs are poor fuel economy, hard starting, low EGT's and my favourite the progressively worsening misfiring when VVL engages.

That's the price of the coupling alone. Labour is separate.

im enjoying the tiida, its very fast in my opinion! I gave a subaru some trouble on the highway...the acceleration is remarkable and the suspension feels great. I have one issue though i find it burns a bit too much gas...i did tune up on plugs etc and it didnt make much different. Is there anything else i can do?

Never knew "keeping up" with a 1.6TS Subaru was anything out of the ordinary. Your tiida has more hp that that TS.

Now if it were an STI.......

Did you change your air filter? Have your MAF sensor sprayed with some contact cleaner.

What is recommended mileage/km should one keep in mind before choosing to replace worn/burnt out plugs?

Hey just wondering does anyone have a tiida with the cvt transmission and notice that the gears takes about 1 sec to change? My gf one does that and we changed the cvt oil and there was a better pull however more or less the same slow gear change...?

I have a cvt tiida. and a cvt does NOT have ANY gear change :?

CVT doesn't use gears at all actually. it continuously varies ratios. the CVT's in these cars have a slow response IMO.

No sry not in terms of actual driving rite but in terms of changing gears thru the shifter like putting it in reverse then switching to drive, it takes about 1 sec difference to switch...does yours experience this?

well maybe not a complete second, but maybe a split second. Nothing too bothersome, but I find it not too noticeable all in all.

maybe i've gotten used to the cvt thing :?

if you're worried about it, you could probably do a diagnostic check on the trans. Btw, did you use NS-2 CVT oil in that transmission? Nissan mkaes NS1 and NS2. Makes sure and use NS2!!!

^^^yea its the ns2 I used, $495.00 by motorist....however about the transmission shifter change, compare to the new model lancer that I have with cvt also, the change in this is flawless, shift on drive and you can mash the X and go immediately but compared to this I really can't say if this is normal on the tiida or should I get it checked?

I have a question on engine oil. Currently I'm using Amsoil Synthetic 10W 30. I've noticed that probably around 6000 - 7000kms after the oil change, my oil level is very very low. The engine is not burning oil nor are there any leaks. Should I try switching to a heavier based oil? The service manual recommends 5W 30.

Also whoever already changed plugs, where did you get a 14mm plug spanner? I'm trying everywhere and can't locate one at all!!

as your car puts on the miles, you should increase your oil weight, since clearances increase and blowby will increase (which will consume some oil).

if you're losing oil then you should step up to the next heavier weight and monitor e.g. 10W40.

keep in mind that 5w30 or 10w30 oils are almost universally recommended for the majority of cars, since they have the widest operability range and are "efficiency promoting" oils.

doesn't mean that they'll provide the best protection for your engine as it ages however.

should i try 20W50 or would that be too heavy?

my engine not that old anyway, i'm doing 63000+ kilos (but then again with fkn ro/ro i'm sure they rolled back the mileage with the amount of stuff i already changed. car is currently down since another coil pack gone thru, this is like the 3rd time in less than 1 year).

eViLwOn sorry for the late reply the plugs should be changed every 60,000 kms if they are the OEM platinum plugs. The OEM plug for the hr16 is the Nissan/NGK LZKAR6AP-11.

I dont recommend using the conventional long reach v plugs like the cube cr engines use i believe its the LFR5A-11(partsmen like to sell dat for the tiida hr engine) they need to be regapped every 5k's and they WILL NEVER last 60k's. You really dont want to be taking off that hr intake manifold every 5k's to regap

My advice is buy the original plugs when you have to change them out, save yourself from the unnecissary labour

evilwon, fyi, you have an option when it comes to plugs.

I purchased the PLZKAR6A-11 plugs, laser platinum. Plug is identical, and may be easier to source. At the time, I had gotten these from the Motorist IIRC.

Thanxs DSM_05,

Time for changing the plugs in my buggy is coming close. Would look into the options that you have given.
Really do appreciate the nfo!
