LF: N16 Advise and Technican

Postby jose123 » October 28th, 2011, 10:10 pm

Hello,
I'm looking for a Competent Nissan technician.
One who can diagnose problems in my Singapore EX N16.
She had worked well since 2007, but needs a good bit of tuning up. Haven't done anything to her engine wise 'cept change oil. Well changed the fans since one failed.
Suspension changed to Energy Suspension and rides great. There is a noise from the front end when driving on rough roads. No one seems to be able to tell what it is. Shocks and suspension look good. Callipers look intact. Can live with that till ready to change shocks and other suspension parts.
However:
1. Idles rough for a N16. Idles perfect between 550 and 800, mostly 750, even with the A/C on, but is rough. Feels like a turbo diesel Toyota.
2. Engine loud. Noticed this after air breather was damaged in collision with dog on highway, but even before this she was louder than other N16's.
3. Recently with the A/C on and idling in D there is a kinda squeeky noise. Shift to N and it stops. Belts look good, a/c parts look good (cursory viewing).
4. Tach stays at 0 and responds after about 30 mins driving (annoying), sometimes going to the other end of the scale and springing back.
5a. Tranny was not pulling off in D, but in 1, then have to shift to D. Does this now (after using Winn's Tranny Conditioner) if the car is not driven for a few days.
5b. Real rough shift from 1 to 2 sometime, but smooth from 2 up.
6. Started burning alot of gas. Average now about 300km on a tank. Was much much better than this. Idling the exhaust has a smell now.
7. Recently car cut off while idling on highway waiting for light. No dash lights, radio remained working. Switched off and started. Problem has not repeated. In fact went down the highway to Chag and reacted to speed and traffic normally.
She does not fall into any of the recall ranges by Nissan in the Sunny or Pulsar markets for any defects. Tan Chong Motor Sales (Singapore) has confirmed this (if a Nissan dealer can be trusted lol).
Anyone had these probs and can recommend solutions/ techie? :)
Thanks

State of The Art Automotive.
222-0183
Chaguanas

Heading west on the Endeavour Flyover, pass Medford gas station and turn south onto the Caroni Savannah Road. Its a few buildings down, on the west (aka right side) of the road. There is a sign, so you can't miss it.
