Well......................
The Japanese JC11 Tiida, as well as the US Versa come with the MR18 engine.
........If you could get one.
Oh ! The manual has a 6-speed box too !

RR.

thanks man, yeh im aware of the mr 18..but i find its just has a big base and not really much difference in hp...only 122 compared to 188 that the mr16ddt puttin out..im guessin it wont need much fabrications to install the mr16ddt as well, i could be wrong...does anyone locally bring in these sort of engines?

Albeit that the MR16DDT is 188HP and higher torque than the N/A MR1.8, the million dollar question is, "Where am I going to get one ?"
That engine has found its home in the Japanese Juke 1.6GT and the Chinese spec Tiida. Both are relatively new vehicles, so getting an engine from one at present time, is like finding the proverbial needle in the haystack.
At this moment the possibility of importing a used Juke so equipped, is easier than finding the turbo engine in our used parts dealerships. (Of course one would set you back close to TT230,000.)
Even if you get an engine, the cost of that unit would be astronomical, before you even pay for the install, and ironing out glitches.
In any event, the candle would cost more than the funeral. I don't know if the bragging rights is worth all that money and headache.
Then some guy with a stock PCD Subaru Legacy GT 2.0 costing $110 or less would iron you flat on the Hochoy.
With some refinements, a 122HP MR18 could add some zip to your Tiida.
Regards,
RR.

thats true talk , well this isnt a project im looking to rush into but sumthing i have been looking at for some time, maybe end of year i could evaluate my choices and see whats available or not... i found two complete engines online, the mr18de at 1400us complete and the mr16ddt at 2500us complete, however the mr18de has the 6speed gearbox. In the end the mr18de would definitely be a wiser choice and one that would be considerably cheaper. With some upgrades i think i can get a bit more hp and to keep it NA. Thanks for the advice tho, the project seems reasonable i think.

mr20de - 2.0 sylphy or teana

vq35de - teana/murano

or turbo the hr15

Watch the new model corollas from like '08 and '10 and up the 1nzz and 2nzz engines making mad hp - I say this only to say that our engines are similar design i.e. intake infront and exhaust behind

look at this 1.8 elantra - I am sure this is what you had in mind

this setup should run you between 35-50
