Nissan B13 Rear Shocks

Postby Racegod » April 16th, 2012, 9:53 am

I'm trying to find what other models are compatible to the rear shocks of the B13... someone was telling me U13 rear shocks are the same, but i prefer get some credible info...

I'm due for a change, and wanna try another shock cuz the B13 Rear shocks always tend to fail, and its always the rear left shock that goes first for me... then i start to hear banging in the back there that pisses me off... so any help is welcomed :)

i dont know about the U13 shocks but you can try the monroe shocks.
just bought a pair online from amazon cost was like 69USD !!
also if your rear left side always goes bad it worth looking into why this always happens - you may need to replace the bushings and stuff back there along with the shock mount.

my advice- new shocks new mounts new bushings and youre good to go !

Or maybe its because the left side (edge of road) of the road is always worst than the right side (middle of road).

N14 shocks works as well but they just as hard to get.

Skylinechild, how does he monroe work as compared to the kyb available locally?

pretty damn good actually.....the monroe i find is a slightly stiffer shock- so it could take a bit more time to beat out and lets face it...our roads here not perfect...
i was watching the cost of the KYB and the monroe..
the KYB cheaper than monroe but the monroe last longer.

most important thing to remember is the shock is only as good as the other components back there - shock head /mount and coil spring insulator and rubbers.....

had on a pair of centtec shocks in the back....lasted i dont know...the old man installed those   those were busted...i pressed the stem fully into the unit - didnt even make an attempt to come back out.... couldn't even PULL it back out...

nice review but at 69us for the pair, won't that be cheaper than the kyb? Also, is that thesupersaloon shocks or the ex?

cheaper in cost..yes but remember you have to factor in shipping and the dreaded customs.
$69USD is what they cost. geek-e-zone ( powerseller) brought it in for me and his prices are very reasonable - very honest tuner to do business with.
all in all my total cost was $1180 TT...

The cost of the KYB units are like $400-$500 for one depending who you go by - then remember you have to deal with the knock off KYB's as well...

the shocks is for the super saloon b12- foreign used 12

another thing to note is that when a car is being built in the manufacturing plant they usually install monroe, ultra or gabriel struts- these are considered OEM.

when these do go bad ppl usually go for KYB or tockico ( dont thing i spelled the name right) cause they cheaper.....which is why KYB dominates the replacement shock market :!:

and aftermarket is usually Bilstein or some other high end brand.

currently i'm also assisting repairing a 2002 volvo S80 ( it's my neighbours car) and we used monroe in the front - we plan on using Bilsteins in the back.!!

i do the cross referencing parts check and we have VADIS...and i also do the parts purchasing!!!

we replaced the shock head and mount sway bars and the monroe definitely does the job... the cost of the monroe was $1200 for the pair and the place on charles st in pos has monroe for $2400  ....in the local stealship... the price.....you dont want to know.

i dont use the KYB brand so i cant say how they actually perform.

the monroes are gas charged units - just remember when installing them to prime it a couple of times - depress the stem fully into the unit, let it come back out on it's own- do it a couple of times.

remember to change your shock head and whatever else you need to - boots included!
