Help Please: QG16 tranny problem

Postby dynamic1 » November 18th, 2012, 3:41 pm

Calling on the QG experts out there. Can anyone help me with what might be the problem with my transmission? It's a QG16 E-throttle engine/transmission.
Changes from 1st to 2nd gear takes slightly longer than normal (which is OK) but when it goes to 2nd gear, there is a very sharp jerk forward. This only happens when changing from 1st to 2nd gear. All the other gear transitions are smooth and normal. I got the mounts checked out and changed, so they should be good. I don't want to change the oil if the tranny is bad but I also don't want to change out the tranny if it is not bad and there is a simple fix.

Could anyone shed some light on what might be the problem and how it can be fixed please?

Hey turbosingh first of all thanks for the response but do you think that bad transmission oil could cause the problem that I am getting?

I'm experiencing the same as you, takes long to shift into 2nd and when it does there's a sharp jerk, especially when the ac is on. My mounts are also good and I recently flushed out the fluid as well. I've sought the advice of a mechanic who suggested that that a broken spring the valve body could be the cause. This is with a B13 transmission though and I'm yet to check a transmission specialist in South to find out if this is indeed the case as I don't know much about the valve body.

I can repair it if it's one if the solenoid but there's also instances where it the transmission itself

Thanks for the response Anil

Could someone tell me if I can use a QG15 or QG18 transmission (Non CVT) in a QG16 E-throttle engine and does it matter if it came out of a cable throttle engine or an E-throttle engine?

Or do I have to use the transmission from a QG16?

Hi I have a qg16 e throttle and have the same problem, lag and jerk when gear changing first to second. I changed the front and back mounts and the transmission fluid but problem is still there. Is it the transmission?
