Nissan Almera N16 Cut off Problem

Postby SubyDude » June 30th, 2013, 6:28 pm

problem: car cuts off at random times...sometimes it works good for hours n then starts cutting off...changed cam and crank sensors, oil, spark plugs, starter, service everything, did a diagnostic by steve in belomont found nothing..anyone who had this problem or can give some info please...

1)Start car on morning, idles up normal then just cuts off.
2)driving normal speed on main road idle drops off and car cuts off.
3)accelerating between 3-5000rpm foot on pedal, engine starts idling down sometimes needle jumping and cuts off (sometimes i notice if u keep mashing gas pedal while this happens the rpm shoots back up)
4) driving constantly at 100km/h on highway rpm drops and it cuts off

what ive also noticed when it cuts off and i start back the car it idles rough...but if i take out the key and put it back and start it back it idles normal until the problem reoccures.

car doesnt give no trouble to start at all once this happens

My experience with a cutoff problem is my air flow sensor had a break in the wire close to the jack. Also, check ur ignition coils (causes power loss and rough idle).

Could be your mass air flow sensor that is at fault.

Another thing...when changing sensors (cam sensor etc), please buy them new and not used.

Had the same prob. Was simply the MAF and Cam sensor. Changed those 2 with a throttle body cleaning and she works well again!

Had this problem a couple years back.. Turns out it was the air filter (non-OEM) restricting airflow. Changed back to OEM and problem was solved.

well ive seem to have found the problem... the ecu is faulty... after changing everything else with oem new replacements I narrowed it down 2 that

problem is I haven't gotten a chance to go up in the bamboo to get a Singapore almera ecu the ones down south don't have any

if anyone can help the ecu code is YN..

hey man, another possibility is the coolant sensor. A faulty one can also cause this symptom (in addition to the other possibilities mentioned before).

Good luck...

i would suspect its the air flow sensor after the air filter, based on talking to people. same complaint: revs raise and drop.

power loss on hills is due to coil pack.

cutting off when idling is due to the throttle body needing cleaning, which then has to be reset with a code scanner(ob2) just to clear the code. most places charge $100 to plug in and clear the code which resets it to normal idle speed.

^^^ This is good advise, often overlooked but your symptoms sound related to CTS Coolant temperature sensor.
