Help on head and block code

I have an L engine. But don't know if it's a L24 or L28. Any experts on identifying the different head and block codes?

You sure you are looking at the machined face just below spark plugs 6 and 5?

That's the engine code. But wanna know the translation to the head code and block code to know the type and year.

L24. Trying to know what kinda block it is. Got the E88 head with square ports. Trying to find out the block now. It's stamped W24.

I wanna know what vehicle the engine came out of. Thanks.

possibly the 280zx?

The 280zx only came L28. The 240z came L24. Non of the L24 engines that came in the 240z came with that head and block. But someone stated on the net within an automotive site, that it came from an R30 Skyline. Still, I wanna find out.
