NISSAN will join the V8 Supercars Championship in 2013 and become the first new manufacturer to enter the sport under its new ‘Car of the Future’ rulebook.

The news was announced today at a press conference in the River Room at Crown Casino in Melbourne.

The Japanese car giant will take on Holden and Ford in next year’s championship – the first run under new ‘Car of the Future’ rules.

Kelly Racing has signed with Nissan to become the company’s factory team and will run four cars next year from their Melbourne workshop.

The team will have the full support of the giant NISMO Nissan Motorsport organisation.

Also in 1990, Nissan and team manager Fred Gibson, had previously been running and developing its Skylines in Australian touring car competition for a few years, and that year introduced its new R32 four-wheel drive GT-R. While it suffered from mechanical problems in the 1990 race, the R32 GT-R Skyline went on to win both the 1991 and 1992 races and dominated Group A racing worldwide, earning its nickname 'Godzilla'. With four-wheel drive, four-wheel steer, and a powerful turbo 2.6-litre six-cylinder engine producing almost 600 horsepower (450 kW), the RWD Sierras and Commodores simply could not equal or compensate for the Skyline's superior handling and power output.

ok so final results...

Everything was sorted, no more misfiring. It doesn't make any more peak power than before.... just more power everywhere else thats not the peak. I threw timing fuel, etc nothing would increase. Seems like I'm at the limit of the cams at this point, theres nothing more that could be choking it at this point other than the tiny cams...

heres a comparison on paper... made 45whp peak and about 48wftlbs tq increase in the mid range and top end. Not bad in the end in my opinion. Average power increase was 30hp and about 30ftlbs to the wheels everywhere in the power band.





and just for fun heres a video on the way home from the dyno, notice the wheel spin in 3rd gear from a 60mph roll all the way to 90mph... awesome. lol

Well its done..

First off id like to thank Bardabe, we have never met and are on two different sides of the country, and he still spent two hours on the phone with me trying to help me figure out the problem with the hpx maf. Thanks!!!

Ultimately i had to scrap the hpx maf, I just couldn't get it to work with the computer and the motor. I ended up going with what i new i could make work, a ford lightning maf. So with the motor still running N/A i uploaded the new map started it up idled and drove fine on the first try... Did some street tuning, perfect so maf issue was sorted out.

Came back home, connected the intercooler piping, modified the map and such, went out for a drive, lightly at first good base tune, then when i went to get on it wide open the first time, I'm thinking man, its pretty slow. It felt at first like it lost power, It took me a while to figure out the throttle was hitting the hood, so i had to notch the hood.





Took it out again, back to normal. It seems like it has more mid range and top end. Hitting 4.8 volts on the maf at 7000rpm, which is something like 875 cfm so it seems like it might be making a little more power.

Another thing that was unexpected is the vtc on this motor switches at 4200 rpms and id tuned to the factory intake manifold. Now around 4-4500 rpm you can feel a surge in power when it switches off, leading me to believe that its flowing more air than the stock one did at that rpm so i may have to get on the dyno and play with the activation point of the vtc.

Also as for impression the power doesn't feel as linear any more, if you see the dyno of before the tq is flat pretty much across the rpm band, now as for feel it seems like its more peaky. So I'm optimistic for a decent gain at this point.

This is all from the butt dyno so ill try and make it to the dyno next week and confirm.
