^ ^ ^ Yup... but I measured one recently and unfortunately it's not suitable.
Suspension has minor differences in shape & dimension.
Only Vauxhall Viva of that era will work, I'm afraid. See my post above.

Sanctifier, if you know the dimensions and angles, can't you make up a crossmember and wishbones from scratch? Sure there are lots of shops that can make the wishbones and fabricate a xmember for you

^ ^ ^ Hi MG. Thanks but... NO THANKS!
That usually means using rose-joints etc... Way too harsh for any "daily driver" I want to own.
At worse, I'll use 'poly' bushings & "competition rubber bushings" in certain areas ONLY... as well as OEM bushings.
"Ride comfort" (& "milage") are both too important for this project.
Sanctifier wrote:
"Double wishbone" front suspension will reduce understeer + IRS will reduce oversteer + 225/? x16 tyres (or wider) will increase adhesion. All together = HIGHER cornering speed... and INCREASED "suspension load".

Now add 210 bhp... That's more than many ol' school "works" rally cars & much more torque too.
On "HOMEMADE" suspension?... I don't think so!
I don't care how good the welder is, or how thick the tubing is! Maybe for the track but on the street?... NAHH!

I rather use the Image Starion front struts that I already have and forget about improved "double wishbone" front suspension... rather than put my family's life (& my own) at so much risk.

you don't have to use rose joints. Look at the model for building a Locost...it uses traditional rubber bushes that you can source from different production cars
I'm not sure what you mean by 'homemade suspension', but once designed and welded properly, how are wishbones built in a local shop different to those built in a fancy racing shop? The only variable would be the skill of the welder...

^ ^ ^ Yup MG it looks great! and I would love to use it... on a track. You have to admit that the MG fabricated wishbones might not last as long as OEM parts for a "daily driver" over a number of years.

That's what I want... a box Lancer with better "ride", mileage, handling, brakes, steering, "looks" & "overall COMFORT" than the rwd OEM 2.0 Lancer Turbo or 1800 GSR. Decent acceleration too (0-60 mph=7.5 sec?). "Top speed" not too important but MUST have long-term 'spare parts' supplies.
I want the long-term durability you'll get from OEM parts. I'm not convinced that even the best race shop fabrications can match the 20-30 year lifespan of a "pressed steel" OEM suspension arm.

I'll put up with 'ketchazz' for the 4+ years of the 'build'... but when it's over all I want to do is occasional maintenance. Time then to rock back & enjoy in comfort (like a NEW car) without having to do repairs all the time... So as many OEM suspension (Viva & Image), brakes (Evo_8) & engine (Image 4G93T) parts as possible
