Postby WestIndian424 » April 22nd, 2014, 1:47 am

Forgive me for being a noob

I think they divide the weight of vehicle by the true engine HP. It's really a power per weight they work out
E.g 2000lbw / 100 HP = 20 hp.

I think ZR explanation is close enough..

my suv is 169hp (google) weight=3395lbs.... 3395/169= 20

my c/copy says 19.6 hp

Yrs ago I ask a LO and he explained it to me. It's weight over HP or power to weight ratio, some cars have different engs. Eg cortina had both 1.6 and 2l engs

the explanation makes sense, and your calculation supports it, but what's weird is that we're using pounds for the weight. I mean, our vehicles' TARE is posted in kilos, does this mean they convert the weight in kg to lbs to find out this power to weight ratio? :?

as far as I know a CLO
is a stamp placed by the Chief Licencing Officer
close to the original chassis number
usually when a vehicle has had some problem
that was corrected by licence office.
That being said I once saw it on a vehicle
which certified copy said it was stolen and recovered
it may be on vehicles that have changed a body shell etc...

I have a small 2 door hatch with a tiny rear seat, and they listed it as 6 including driver O_O
