Congratulations to Carl & Nick Brunnet from Canada ,Not sure what motor exactly but this is just amazing for a 4 Cylinder , Smashed Brent Rau's 6.8 4g63 Record becoming the Worlds Fastest 4 Cylinder Doorslammer , heres the Video

Car: Pontiac GXP
Chassis: Full Tube Chassis (RWD)
Engine: GM ECOTech
Best ET: 6.75s at 205 mph

6.77 @ 207 MPH

6.75 @ 205 MPH

when it comes to the usual piston vs rotary talk , it crushes the 13b  and .2 Seconds away from the 20b , what a pity

When it comes to drag racing, if it doesn’t have eight-cylinders, most people don’t pay it much attention. There is no replacement for displacement, as evidenced by the fact that the world’s fastest drag cars all use V8’s, not 4-bangers. Still, there is a place in the drag racing world for four-cylinder race cars, and it is actually amazing how fast these guys can go on half the number of cylinders as most drag cars.

Last week, a four-cylinder Ecotec-powered drag racer tuned by Nicolas Brunet and driven by Carl Brunet set a new world record for four-bangers. Believe it or not, this four-cylinder drag car went a blistering 6.71 at 206 mph in the quarter-mile. Is that staggeringly fast or what?

The world of four-cylinder drag racers is much smaller than that surrounding the Temple of V8, and only a handful of teams have ever even broken into the six-second range. Among them is Brent Rau, who previously held the record with a 6.82 in a 1999 Mitsubishi Eclipse with a 4g63 engine.

But the Perceval Racing team has outdone them with a 1,400 horsepower, turbocharged Ecotec engine that helped them bust down Rau’s old record. Thanks to a massive 82mm turbocharger, this four-cylinder engine makes 8-cylinder power. It is admirable how fast Perceval can go with just four cylinders to work with, but we still miss that rumble of a big V8.

OMG 6.58 @ 211 mph today!! This is quite amazing for the Piston World , who would have thought a 4 cylinder could reach this far!! The 20b Record is soon to be Broken by a ''Mingee'' Little 4 Cylinder lol , This is just extraordinary , Congrats to Carl Brunet and the CREW!!!

A GM backed Ecotec race motor is nothing to joke about... A lot of money has been spent by GM to ensure those engines make 1400+hp on any given day. When they break, the plan is to give them back to GM for them to open it up.. The teams are not allowed to touch them! A crate engine usually comes complete with wiring harness, turbo, intake, etc... I'm sure Carl is doing his own motor rebuilds but they were still part of GM's race program a few years ago..

BTW, the Rotary record was done on a 3/4 chassis, not a full chassis like Carl. Also, Carl's Ecotec should be compared ti a 13b, not 20b

Abel Ibarra is coming back out with something new. We'll see this so-called Piston vs Rotary Talk end soon.

A guy once told me Abel Ibarra did 5 Seconds on a full quarter mile pass  Confused I checked for the pass only to see it was a 1/8 Mile , When I told him the man arguing with me yes lol.

Team New Generations ''The New Ian'' Mazda 6 With a PB of 6.5 is returning with larger Slicks soon for more Records and also the return of ''El Cosa Nostra'' sounds interesting also

I know that Rotaryboys but you know others (well dumb trinis) will still compare the 20b to the 4 cylinder.

but this thread is ABOUT PISTON POWERRRR!!!!!!!!!!! >>>>

I'm here in California hanging out with Abel as I type this. He's not coming out with anything new, anytime soon. His Rx8 got a new turbo manifold, AMS1000 & other minor stuff. The truth is Abel is enjoying life with his family & his roller pigeons (Google roller pigeons) and don't have much time for racing. The car needs about $10k to be spent on it to re-certify the bellhousing etc.

I put 2 pics up on my Facebook page- www.facebook.com/IRDesigns

Well that sucks. I guess whoever I got the info from (that supposedly spoke to Abel) is wrong... :(

BTW, I liked your page. Got some really great stuff on it.

Carl Brunet - 6.466 @ 218 MPH (W) NEW WORLD FOUR CYLINDER RECORD !!!!!!! 1.06 60' , 2.799 330', 1/8 4.21 @ 177 MPH , AS MUCH AS I LIKE ROTARY MOTORS ALSO, THE PISTONS ARE OFFICIALLY NOW FASTER THAN ROTARY FOR NOW !!!!! When you thought the V8's , V6's and Straight 6's was already Dominating , here's the Official Fastest 4 Cylinder, Faster than the Fastest 3 Rotor In The World , so all that old talk should now be on Hold with Rotary Guys 8-) , Unfortunately in his next pass he hit the Walls but he is well and nothing happened to him :)
