I never used this feature in my life (maybe once) but i notice a lot of people have it turned all the way up ? what is your take on it ? on Xovers and on amplifiers
benefits drawbacks?

aka SQ killer control (never used or liked it) if gains isnt set right tho gonna be clipping that amp think it normally "boost" a certain freq range can be corrected on what i sad above not no big music man
I use it mainly to even out the higher tones, with some boxes different port area, tuning, even placement in the vehicle you might not get the bump/heavier bass.
But i never had it set all the way up tho, I play songs with changing bass notes and set boost accordingly.
Been watching the spectrum analyzer when I play songs on my pc. Lately most commercial music clips so easily. I cant imagine using eq and boost on top of it. I prefer a clean signal and more power.
A DSO Nano is 60 bux now they even have one that`s sold as a kit for aroun 35 to 40usd. Even a hobbyist can afford it to enusre that even if they do use any type of boost, that they`re not messing up the signal.
That remains turned down on my amp as proper box, tuning and processing should see to it ur bass needs r met but using it a lil wont hurt. Give or take sq for more boom
Never used it either. Find it makes the music clip easily at higher volume levels. On most factory stock systems though, i do use the bass / treble controls to give a stock system a lil more kick at low volume
none of the systems I have done or retuned have been tuned with it
its a feature originally designed when you drove with your windows down and needed a little more oomf on the speakers driven by the internal amp on the deck itslef
to me that feature should be removed. it makes the bass sound unnatural and boomy so to say. proper enclosure and tuning is all it takes. also clipping is another factor to look at when this feature is used
Most of my amps had the boost freq at 40 Hz or a bit higher. In the earliest it gave a bit lower extension , but soon I was making systems that 40 Hz was high bass. That boost knob is automatically turned down now.
