Qes seems a bit high. Some preliminary modeling suggests it might do well in a 30 Hz TH or something similar.

Correct, I took the screen shot before the vent calculations, the main reason being that the vent has a little different design work, and the calculation software cannot calculate for it.

It's a new type of vent, from us here at Team ADT.We have alot of ways we do things differently, and this new enclosure will incorporate alot of our new design philosophy.

Thanks,
Team ADT

Hello guys,

Sorry for the late update, but I wanted to be sure about what I was going to post.We had the sub and new enclosure for the last month, gave it time to break in, powered it up properly, and further listening to ensure an accurate review.

Here's the technical specifications of what was done-

Crossover points-

linkiwitz riley 24db per octave
HP- 30hz
LP- 90hz

Power- average around 800-1000 wrms (1200wrms on tap)

My final review-

At first, I honestly found the vvx-8 to be a bit sluggish on the response side, it took a bit of power to get it going and then I found the response to be slightly delayed.I played it in my daily car like any other sub in the "break in" period, soft sometimes, loud in between and then most times medium output. The sub was played like any other, no special treatment. The enclosure was kept as shown in the above post.

After two of so weeks, there was a noticeable difference in tonality, the sub got louder on lower power, and the laziness left. Now we got somewhere , the sub was broken in.Now the games started(questions with answers)-

How much power handled safely?

32.5v @ 1ohm

VOLTS / RESISTANCE = CURRENT
32.5v / 1ohm= 32.5amps

VOLTS x CURRENT= WATTS
32.5v x 32.5amps= 1056.25wrms (max, average was within 800-950wrms)

What songs were played?

LIL wayne- a millie (excellent reproduction of upper tone)
lil wayne ft rick ross- john (great transition, detailed, surprising output)
36marfia- late night tip (every note was heard, what wasn't was felt)

Alot of old school sound clashes, every one well played

Yes I even took out the Celine dion cd's, accurate, smooth and most of all pleasing.

This was when I overdrived, I played at max volumes for 3hr + continuous periods, we took it to the extreme , one caura lime, whole day, full output, I still have it playing, no smells, no overheating.

Honestly, the sub has quite impressed me, and on many levels, there are many more that haven't.I even made the decision to buy a pair, I will be using this in my personal vehicle. This woofer gets my thumbs up, and a full go ahead from Team ADT.

The true test of a sub is and will always be the time it can spend playing at a satisfactory level
time after time, and I must say, this sub has done it.

Here's the long awaited pictures,

Thanks to offshore marketing for a wonderful woofer that has impressed me.To be quite honest, there are very few subs that I have liked over the years in order-

tc sound TC1000(epic lines)
FI audio BTL
Skar audio VVX-8
RE audio se
Rockford's t2
Skar audio VVX-8

My choices are not based on output alone, but overall quality, from build straight to actual playing and quality of sound.

Team ADT will be using these in our up coming installs.See them in action soon, in a show near you!!!!

Thanks for tuning in,
Team ADT

Very good detail build and review Team ADT...I have watched this sub and will definitely be purchasing one of these (12" though) once funds are available!

One question: Did you get the opportunity to test the sub on the meter (spl)?

In the future: V/R = I

Anyways, is that peak voltage, average voltage & how did you check it?

How was the impedance rise measured & drop in current / power delivered to the sub as well?

or P = (VxV)/R
P = (35.2x35.2)/1
P = 1239W

Hi guys,

Krys here, now pointing out I= V/R, and therefore P= V x I , the guy here in charge of Team ADT's account seems to have his math mixed up lol. Thanks for the corrections here.Let's go over this again shall we?

32.5v @ 1ohm

VOLTS / RESISTANCE = CURRENT
32.5v / 1ohm= 32.5amps

VOLTS x CURRENT= WATTS
32.5v x 32.5amps= 1056.25wrms (max, average was within 800-950wrms)

Voltage was tested as peak points, using a Fluke DMM, all other figures besides ohm load were calculated accordingly. We had averaged power from sine waves, every octave from 30hz to 90hz, voltage was taken accordingly.

I think I may have to take over all of our review posts.

Kindly note, the correction was made to the post above.

Thanks,
Krys

Hello indian love,

Yes the enclosure is .80cuft but-

Quote:
It's a new type of vent, from us here at Team ADT.We have alot of ways we do things differently, and this new enclosure will incorporate alot of our new design philosophy.

This directly impacts our overall tuning-

Quote:
We have a .80cu^ft box before displacements, port area vs vent velocity simulates very well at fourteen square inches. The box has a nice response, -3db @ 28hz,0db @ 33hz,+3db @ 35hz, and peaks at +6 db @ 40hz.Please not the box is tuned to 38hz.

The new port design here, is very similar to our enclosures used in competition in both the fi feilder wagon in single 12, and viking's single 10.These cars are tuned high, 59 and 64hz in either vehicles , yet are very able to play from as low as 30hz with output and accuracy, and no mechanical damage to the driver itself.

Thanks,
Team ADT
