Logical selection choice over "he say, she say" =
A speaker with a high fs and low qts suggests a big box with rugged response, which can get quite peaky leading to harsh sounding bass.Sadly though, as power ratings go up, musicality is thrown out the window for output.
Most of the suggested suggested sub woofers here carry that trait and are considered "loud"
You vehicle with it's lack of a trunk, has a limited bandwidth in which the cabin gain is useful and it occurs on 2 periods unlike a car that has one .If this is the 2004-06 ranger, that would be 34hz-42hz and then 58hz - 80hz.
In this case, the stated frequencies above will be attenuated , which can be used for overall output and speaker choice and enclosure design , the more important one being the latter.
As you stated before, you like the lower tones, but some of the speakers stated here can only peak out at one point or the other resulting in muddy bass, or peaky bass. Please note, power rating should not be used as a guideline for how loud you can get.
Here are my suggestions (most well balanced overall based on experience) -
TC sounds epic 8" (highest price to performance ratio)
Sundown audio sa 8 (loud)
Image dynamics IDQ8 (extremely musical)
JBL GTO 804d ( best price to performance /power efficiency value, one of my top picks)
