Time Display on NZE????

Postby Crackpot » March 14th, 2010, 12:40 pm

Good day folks, I have a 2002 NZE Corolla and I cannot see the time in the night at all. The display is black and white and does not light up nice and pretty like the 2005 fielders, and Altis.

Is there a switch somewhere or do I just have a ole model Corolla that I have to put the light on to see what time it is :?:

the light in the clock display probably blow. this happened to my 2005 nze, u will have to scrap the center console to get to the bulb which is extremely small & replace it..

u serious ? d bulb in the back of the clock unit probably blow , just take apart the dash starting with the ac vents on top and working down by pulling it foward...(look out for hidden screws)

u can swap the bulb from the cig' lighter into it i think or just buy a new led bulb and u can change the color one time to give a diff look

Like that is a common problem, because it's the same on my NZE. I just thought it was too much trouble to pull out that entire centre console just to change that bulb.

@MJb12 did you sort out the transmission issue?

Pull out the center knob that controls the blower speed. Remove the screw behind that. Pull out the ac vent bazel surrounding the radio. Pull out ash tray I think there are screws there. Center console will come out. Just be careful when pulling it out. I changed my bulb a while back. You can get the bulbs cheap at any auto store. Hope this helps.

Just copy and paste the above link in your browser. It shows how to remove the centre console.

We have 05 NZE, with the digital display. Bulbs were good. I just changed them out for the blue L.E.Ds

For the Altis is the same.

Remove the centre A/C vent, just pull forward.
Centre console do the same by pulling, has no screws only clips.
Disconnect the lighter and the bulb from the coin pocket.

When the centre console is out, be careful when you remove the screws at the back. The ribbon if that is the correct name, can burst very easily.:x

I had bought another console to swap out because of the A/C knobs.
Anyway, when swapping out the bulbs if it doesn't light up, just turn them the opposite direction.

Thats it, hope this helps. Sorry didn't take any pics when i was removing the centre console.
If i missed anything other tuners can add.
