WTK: NZE 121 Hand Brake Shoes

Postby ADONI » February 23rd, 2012, 8:54 pm

I saw a post on 2nr where someone indicated that Trinidad Brake & Clutch has brake pads for the NZE. I called them about the independent hand brake shoes. They said they don't have that but for $200 they could take the old ones and build them back. I mean ah trying to save up the money to buy it original, but for $200 and is only hand brakes use it sounding good.
What do you all think?

With one of my clients ,since i didn't have in stock we tried the relining solution and found that the new liners were thicker resulting in the need to do some bench work cutting them down and even after this for a few weeks squeaks and squeels were the order of the day.
Things did eventually settle down but we cannot say the experience was a good one.
BTW,the proper shoes I now have available.

What I notice with many people is that they inadvertently run their vehicles with parking brakes engaged.
Funnily, this happens most often when the parking brakes are not adjusted periodically as part of the service schedule. What happens is that the handbrake lever does not provide the required tension and many times when they feel they have disengaged its not quite so.
Another cause has to do with the brake shoe wearing (as its designed to do) and no adjustment done so that drivers would operate their vehicles not realising the shoes is engaged just bearly.
The best approach is adjust the engage and disengage action on the parking brake system as part of normal maintenance.

Turbohead, when I bought the car, parking brakes was working as it should. After ah ran off the road in a drain, that is when the parking brakes start working like crap. I had my mechanic adjust from the drum & from the hand brake leaver, still under strain it moves a lot then stops, depending on d incline. If the car is uphill parking brakes wouldn't hold for nothing.
The mechanic says last resort is to change the parking brake shoes although it seems to me to have half of its life still eh. Got a second opinion and that mechanic said everything looking fine.
I had a friend who had the same problem and they changed the shoes and it was solved.

if you ran down in a drain your problem maybe water also, a vehicle came in dat went through flood and and park brakes was not working, removed and inspected and serviced, also check to make sure that all springs and retainers are in place could be your cause also
