I'm on the market to replace my daily driver (2002 B15) and I'm looking at a Toyota model to replace it. Right now, I'm looking at the XV40 Camry with the 2.4L 2AZ-FE as my first option and a Corolla Axio with a 1NZ-FE as my second option, but would like feedback on them.
I'm looking for:
1) Reliability: equivalent or better than a B15 (this is quite a huge task lol)
2) Low daily running costs: I've been reading the XV40 manual and AKI 87/RON 91 (super) can be used with the 2AZ-FE engine XV40. Anyone can confirm that our super is up to the task? I cover more than 500km weekly, so gas type and consumption is important.
3) Ride quality: My other car is a Lexus/Toyota, so I want a daily driver with the Toyota quality ride while not feeling like a boat in corners.
4) Comfort: B15 has a very comfortable driving position, so I am hoping the Camry should be at least as good as it is a "premium" car.
5) Parts availability: More interested in local body parts availability as I would expect some wear from it becoming my daily driver (windscreen/bumpers), as I can source small parts and consumables from toyolink/online/ebay.
6) Performance: Not a factor.
7) DIY Serviceability: I do a lot of routine maintenance on my own, is there anything special in these cars I should be aware of in usual maintenance? I was reading about the CVT on the Axio is a pain to change fluids. Is this still the case?
FYI my secondary choice, the Corolla Axio, is about half the cost of the Camry.
