What type of oil filter do you guys use in your fielders?

FRAM? I was told not to use FRAM because it may be contributing to my noise?

I have been using sakura so that the oil pressue can reach the tenshioner faster but that not working at all!!!

I used to like FRAM filters because they looked like the best after market kind!!!

i have the same fielder and i hear a light rackle when i start up on mornings or when the car is parked up for a long time. it only sounds for a second or 2 when i make the first tumble. if i switch off and restart after that, it starts normal! so im guessing that when it sits for a long time the lubrication on the timing chain dries off and causes the rackle when its started.

letty, your problem sounds like the timing chain may be slack and thats y it only makes noises when in low rpm. high rpm may increase tension in the chain and therefore u wont hear any noises

hi,

Can someone explain how to use the overdrive in a 2006 fielder?
I was told to leave it on permanently esp. when on long runs since I will help with the fuel economy, but something about that just don't feel right. When I put it on, the car revs heavier and accelerates quickly..I had to turn it off to control the car at times...seems like I putting alot of strain on the engine and might be burning more gas.
What is the proper way to use overdrive..

thanks

When the overdrive lights up it is acually running in 3rd gear for better acceleration. When off it is in 4th for better mileage.

OVERDRIVE
-Overdrive allows the vehicle particularly on essentially flat highway motoring to achieve and maintain speeds at lower RPM.The gearing activated is not really designed to facilitate high load pulling capability as maybe required when climbing hills.
-On many newer mod vehicles OVERDRIVE is selected electronically by the vehicle with the driver having no need to 'flick' a switch. The vehicle will sense the driving mode and automatically select the option.
-The latter statement would mean that vehicles with this option when put in 'econ mode' will actually do all the selecting themselves.

Just got a roro fielder wagon(1nz-fe 1.5l). When I start it, the idle rpm is around 1500rpm and dies down to about 1000-900rpm is this normal.

Thanks.

hi guys, new to the thread. just bought a 2006 fielder wagon, the one with the reverse lights on the tailgate. thing is, the previous owner kept it in storage for 2 yrs. it has a genuine mileage of 49,000kms. the fan belt is missing for some reason. can anyone tell me the number of the belt to purchase? its the 1nzfe engine.

there are 2 versions of the belt, difference being the width I think
measure the width on the pulley and go to a reputable shop
they should have them, nze belts are common item

Use toyota oil filter and 5w-30 viscosity..Avoid use of $20 oil filters.

Well breds, I wish you well. You have a very good engine, so treat it well.
It is remarkable for the good ole 1NZFE to give you 300,000 kms without issues.
For a NZE 141, that car is working shifts !! Haha !
Regards,
RR.

Well isolved an ac issue but ended up with another. I replaced the faulty compressor with a compressor off a new model crashed corolla. Now I can't seem to get a belt to work properly. I've chewed up 2 belts in one week.

Any reason for this?

Experience has demonstrated that there are quality and performance issues associated with the use of cheap parts and although they don't normally impact immediately over time the rate of internal wear etc. causes a higher than normal probability of engine failure.
The internal lube systems in the newer generation vehicles exhibit a low tolerance for variations from manufacturer specs.
Ask anybody who trying to figure out why engine has failed because of sludge.

Well I've been looking at the Luberfiner filter in particular. How would you rate this in terms of quality and performance then? Still not as good as OE?

I honestly cannot/would not endorse the filter you are interested in since I am not familiar with same.
In my domain I am quite happy with the toyota branded consumerables which I market (inclusive of the TRD filters).
Actually I find that the price vs quality/performance analyst brings me right back to original toyota filter as the best buy (toyota filter=$80).
This applies to stock vehicles.
BTW if your brutalise and push your vehicle beyond design capability filters ain't going to help!

Hi Tuners, I have a serious problem with my NZE 142 vehicle. A couple months ago I changed my transmission oil using the ns2 oil (because I could not get the toyota cvt oil anywhere and the mechanic suggested I use the ns2). Well this turned out to be a calamity last week. I now need a new transmission and apparently it is very difficult to source parts for this fielder. I called everywhere and up till now I cant seem to locate it. Any suggestions?

I changed fluid a couple of months as well with ns2.
What were some of the symptoms you experienced before the tranny was gone?

I have a 142 fielder as well, never changed the cvt oil but it's way overdue for a change now. Was going to replace a gallon of fluid (i only got 1 gl of tc toyota fluid) last week but my mech couldn't locate a refilling point. He tried to remove a whitish plastic plug at the top of the unit but it couldn't turn out and he was afraid it broke when he tried prying it out. Could anyone advise on if this was the correct approach used? Also, are there any filters or gaskets to be changed? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
