Guys,

What kind of oil is used in our climate for a 1uz-fe?
In the manual, 5w30 is recommended for temperatures 38 deg Celcius and lower.
10w30 is recommended for temperatures above that.

I suppose our climate satisfies both, but which would be better to use?

Sometimes the recommended oil may not be the correct choice due to the age of the engine, or what is your daily commute.

I have a 4age and a mechanic told me its recommended that i use 10w30, but because the engine is over 10 years, i should 10w40. another mechanic said its fine to use 20w50, i did and the VVT moved sluggish. i usually change the 10w40 every month to six weeks, with the 20w50, it gave me about 8 to 10 weeks b4 the oil needed changing.

So after trying all, i decided to stick with the 10w40, Helix H7

Your owner's manual indicates that 10W30 is the correct oil to use.
Only deviate from this if you are consuming oil via the piston rings.
