Hey guys,

Was wondering if any one of you all know if it's possible to buy a blank key with a chip in it and reprogram it to work with my Rav4..with remote lock and unlock functions.

Several websites claim that the newer model come with the ability to reprogram a key.
So wanted to find out if this method works first...before buying this key from Amazon.

Other option is to get one from Toyota for well over $1500 I'm sure. A locksmith charged me around $1500 or more.. and that's just to copy the chip to a blank chip. So all i've have is a key that unlocks and start my vehicle. No remote unlock/lock. He said i'd have to go to Toyota and get that done. And I really want to unlock/lock feature back.

Did you get it reprogrammed?

No but ended up transferring the immobilizer chip from the broken housing with the keyless entry electronics. buttons lined up nicely to a new key housing I ordered on amazon and then u just cut the keyblade at a normal locksmith.
The ordered key supposed to be the programmable set but after following the instructions i only got as far as reach my vehicle's programming mode and for some reason it just wasn't programming the new chip.

I eventually will have to pay someone to program a new chip for me as I've lost one.
