Disc Brake question for CK MIVEC owners

Postby MISHI » May 31st, 2011, 3:41 pm

Did the CK MIVECs come without ABS? And how difficult is acquiring the rear wheel hub/bearing for them?

I see the earlier CB MIVECS were 4x100... and the CK I know are 4x114.3. Thinking of changing my 4x100 rear discs in sooner or later to the 4x114.3 MIVEC rear but wouldn't want the hassle of not being able to get the rear hubs for em...

MISHI, the rear ABS hubs can be a bit sticky to get. I have a 4x100 ABS CK lancer and when the rear hub went, I had to eventually modify a non-ABS local CK hub to accomodate the gear proximity ring for the ABS sensor.

It involved drilling and countersinking the two holes where the bolts go for the gear ring on the outer flange, and then slightly skimming the said flange on the outer edge to accomodate the ring.

I don't know what is your avaliability of machine shops in Tobago to do this, but if you can't get the hub, this may be a last resort.

That is what's keepig me from deciding to go 4x114 in the rear. Mind you I don't have abs, but I don't want to be stuck with needing to get that exact hub to fit the rear if a replacement is needed.

I'd keep my setup but the only issue is that having uneven PCDs in the car makes it a little harder to fit the wheels combo you may want and also spares a little more difficult to find (you wouldn't believe how hard an 8 hole 14" steelie is to get)

But I rather keep it if I know I can get the 4x100 rear disc hubs easier...

Other than that if they had GSR 254mm fronts with 4x100 spacing I'd have gladly gone that route as well.

Why not just modify the front setup to be 4X100?

I honestly not comfortable with drilling the rotor to take 4x100...

That seems to be the easiest solution?
Wheel Wizard has a computerized machine for drilling wheels... Maybe it could give the rotors a perfect drill?
