Any advice will greatly be appreciated,I am changin my engine which is a 4g18 and i was told that the 4g93 would be a direct bolt up... I would like to know if this is true and if it would work wit the cvt or will i have to change the transmission as well... If there are issues with this conversion please feel free to inform... i have being readin the forum trying to find the info.... thanks again...

there are lots of post with this around. they kinda old but all d info there.

1) Yes its a direct bolt up FIT
2) No your CVT wont work!
3) Are you going 4g93 or 4g93T(stock turbo version)?

Its a relatively easy conversion as there are 1.8 (4g93 & 93T) cs3's.
The things i can remember you will need of the top of my head are:
engine (ofcourse), engine mounts (its a heavier engine), front axle (its a heavier engine), front shocks (its a heavier engine), Transmission (manual or auto/tiptronic, your choice), Braking Setup (calipers, rotors etc, its a faster engine)

not sure if it easier/cheaper to get all d parts from bamboo or somewhere or to buy a front cut from a 1.8 Mitsu, you will have to check.

I considering doing d same with my 4g18. i am no car tech so do some research on d forum and see what u come up with, but the items above are necessities for d conversion.

Thanks alot agentX, as for the engine i was thinkin about goin wit the 4g93 because i heard that the 93T is a bit difficult to wire, well thats wat i heard due to the fact that its a GDI engine.
And as for the cvt workin on the 4g93 i taught that was BS...,... as for gettin the parts i called a few places in the bamboo and i was gettin the engine and transmission for 9k, but i am sure i will get a better price if i am buyin the other things.... but thanks for the info, but for now this is the research part of the conversion... so i will keep readin...

no probs bro. I heard rumours of front cuts goin anywhere between 13K - 18K. will ask a few questions when i pass in bamboo. if you really want more power you may as well go 93T. it will come with harness and brain so no real wiring headache. GDI engines work great as long as you care for them. Its not one of those old toyota engines where you can use cooking grease and it will still run. In the past (2006/2007) not much people had experience with them but now. there are lots of great mechs that can handle d job. what area u from? or u could ask d forum. men like MISHI and dem.

thanks again, honestly i am tempted sumtimes to get the 93T but i dont really thrust myself,lol.... i am from south and i am on the highway everyday of the week.... So wit the 93T gas consumption maybe an issue as well... did wat sum readin the other night and basically confirmed what u told me firstly.... does it need more care than the 4g18 by the way....

1) hmm. i think its bout the same. just keep up with ur maintenance (oil, plugs, filters etc) and u shouldnt have any issues. i am also from south, i do south to chaguaramas everyday so i pay attention to gas.

On a side note I bought a gearbox last week so i'll be converting to manual in a few weeks (more fun and i prefer to drive manual). i stickin with the 4g18 for now, will do a street clutch, upgrade brakes, intake, exhaust and a couple other things soon and keep enjoying my ride. even saw some guys install 6 - 9 lbs of boost. Who knows what else i may do.

I heard about boostin the 4g18,but jus remember the engine wasnt built to handle that kinda pressure, and you know when it boosted you will always want to see wat you have.... lol... As for goin manual u will surely sip on gas,not sure about the tires if u know wat i mean..... By the way where did u get the manual set up (ah hope u get the manual ecu) and at wat cost.... And also the brakes upgrade.... Ah know ah all up in ur business....

yeah, if you gonna boost you should re-enforce the engine. like i said, i not sure i gonna do it, just lookin at my options, i just want to fullfill the cars potential. Got the full conversion (ECU included) for close to 5k in the bamboo. i am sure that price was high but i wasnt able to find it anywhere else so ............ (did some serious searchin to get it). As for the brakes i not sure what i doin yet. Most people convertin to 5 hole so they could get the wagon brakes (CS5W) or VR4 (galant) brake kit. if you wanna stay 4 hole it seems the VRG (galant) fits bolt for bolt and lil bigger (its what i read havent confirmed for myself but this is an opt5ion for now till i get more power). i am not sure if the 1.8 lancer has 5 or 4 hole but i am pretty sure it will be 5.

yep it is. 4g93 non turbo has cvt, 6 speed tiptron,
4g93t has 4 speed invecs tiptronic .

i bought a front cut of the turbo wagon and everything fit bolt for bolt. wires wasnt that hard to hook up as my electrician said except i took out my whole dash board and replaced wit the front cut ones. there is a reason why u should get the whole dash board. the AC controls is electronic compared to the 4g18 . the throttle is e throttle. so ull need the gas pedal . and all the wiring.

if u want to know more about the 4g93 non turbo , IDLEMIND is the dude to ask . the 4g93t gdi , is only me luckyloulou and sunil and i think xtech to ask .

btw forget what ppl saw that gdi is crap . yes they are hectic but not soo hard to deal with . once u clean the throttle every 3 months u good. change oil and plugs on time, NO IRIDIUMS, and check coilpacks off and on { personal experience with this} . and get 2 coilpack , a throttle and a fuel pump for spare thats about it .

gas consumption ---- hey its how u drive . my turbo setup i do 400-450km easy. once u not in boost , the gdi settings does wonders under 2500. in boost it gargles gas.

IMHO DO NOT use the 4G93T GDI... limited power output... NO aftermarket support... GDIs are "fussy" engines to maintain. (My Galant has an 1800 GDI.)

A better choice is the 4G93 (Gen 2) turbo motor from the 4wd 1800 GSR. More expensive... but much more torque and power... easier to maintain and upgrade.

It's usually "manual" (4wd) though there are "auto" versions too. Also, better aftermarket parts support available.

My $0.02ยข

Little update,i was askin around and i found out that the 4g15 with double coilpack will replace the 4g18 bolt for bolt, but this goes without sayin that the 4g15 is a 1500 engine,on the plus side its much cheaper and its also a straight swap. Wat you guys think....
Thanks for your input so far....

Digging up an old thread here. Currently looking for a front cut with 4g93t GSR (preferably) or GDI to do the same swap. Anyone have a link?
