FYI: Plug Seal gasket or Cam Gasket for GDI engines

Postby 2nil » September 22nd, 2013, 8:30 pm

hi guys and gals,i have some information to share with you all

Anybody lately who's the owner of a cedia lancer(cs5a) or cedia lancer wagon (cs5w) or or even a vehicle with one of those 4g93 or 4g93T GDI
engines or ah matter a fact any gdi engine and currenty getting oil leaking down on your plugs and oil wetting up your coil pack stems?

Well if so, you have a worn out Cam gasket or as we say a plug seal gasket,it is usually worn out with age and the gasket get hard and oil passes through to unwanted places.........and if not changed it causes :

1.the engine's starts to stutter (eventually a check engine may come on)

2.can also cause your coil pack stems to blow and leak current due to the oil coming in contact with plug.

3.(NB.the coilpack itself usually doesn't go bad unless the situation is really critical)

4.excessive smoke from the exhaust while idling and driving only when it starts for the first time for the day.

5. having to top up on engine oil sometimes.

if anyone is getting problem to purchase one i got one to buy at:

P.T. auto EL Socorro ext,San Juan PH#6750223 please provide chasis no.it get correct part.

cost $740.00 (genuine Mitsubishi cam gasket 1015B006)(nb go with cash you will get it cheaper)

mechanical labour approx $500.00

oh all my probz stop.........lol

I took mines out, degreased by soaking in gas.
Put it back in and ran a bead of silicone gasket maker, been about 3 years, problem haven't presented itself again.

But for persons interested PT can import almost any part you need, cost may be an issue though.

Just be aware that there are different parts no's for this, even for the same designated engine eg the 4g93 gdi, the seals are differently designed and cannot be interchanged, so ensure it's the correct part.
