CS2 lancer reverse gear going in hard

Postby buzz.joseph » December 16th, 2013, 10:40 am

Having a problem with a CS2 lancer, it idles really high about 1500rpm in park and neutral, when in drive it idles fine changes gears and drives normal, however when changing to reverse bang noise is heard like if it jumps into reverse gear. Tried adjusting the idle with no dice, actually doesn't seem to be adjusting. Any help would be appreciated.

Does it reverse smoothly? If it does, then it is probably just the transmission/back mount.

Does the car/engine/dashboard vibrate while idling?

idles its smooth by really high but normal in drive, already change the tanny mount and no vibration, well noticeable vibration. I believe the high idle is related to the jump in reverse gear from park

Idling issues are related to the Idle Air Control Valve (IACV) and Throttle Body (TB). Have both serviced/cleaned.

Other than that, when have you last done a transmission flush?

Also check to see if you have a relay for the transmission. If the relay gone that would happen. Just replace the relay.

Thanks for the advice, would check today. The transmission was flushed saturday. Funny thing doh with the tps unplugged the car idles how it should and everything seems fine with it on the idle speed increases.

Well adjust the tps. Use a scan tool or multimeter to bring it back to where it supposed to be. I think it's around 4-4.5. Can't remember. Aye on YouTube just search how to adjust a tps and do it. If that don't work. Spend some money by a technician.
