Mivec not coming on when car has warmed up

Postby Pbkyle » May 13th, 2014, 8:51 pm

hey guys..the mivec isnt enagaging. It works for a few mins after the car has warmed up but stops after a while. The solenoid is working fine too. The problem only started a short while after the oil was changed. Currently using a 20/50 .. any recommendations?

Too heavy an oil will not allow the mivec solenoid to operate properly so it wont open.

hey guys.. just letting you all know I got through.. there was actually a dent in the sump pan , right under the oil pickup, decreasing the oil pressure to the cams..... mivec is working fine now :) thanks for the help

Good to hear. Hopefully that slight oil starvation didn't cause any damage.

Good to know. Should still consider using a 10w40 with the Mivec. I use this body in Amsoil in mines and works great.
