Hello guys, I know this is a very old topic, but i see a lot of information in it and would appreciate if anyone can help me out here.

My 4G15 engine in my Lancer seems to be missing on one cylinder. I did a compression test and here are the results:
1st: 10.45kg/cm2
2nd: 11.25kg/cm2
3rd: 11.5kg/cm2
4th: 11.75/cm2

Now, I know that there are some difference in the compression. But I dont know what is the normal compression for this engine? What should it be?

Also, I want to improve the output of my car a bit on the lower speeds... any ideas?

Please note that I am from India so getting hold on things may be hard for me.

My dad runs a car garage here, so any ideas for what I can do or get done to the engine to improve the output?

Looking forward to your responses.

Kanhai

hmph hope i find the help i need here lol........here i gooo, So i have a 4g15 dohc with gearbox.....engine starts great, idles smooth , revs nice sound healthy and nice BUT when im driving the car i tend to get a stutter/break up/hold back around 3500/4500rpm then it accelerates nice again, i changed plugs, the wires, oil, gas filter, service the trottle body and injectors and still gets the problem.... when i advance the distributor it seemed to help it a bit but wen i advance 2much, the ignition rattles obviously.....so im thinkin is that the distributor needs changing.....any advice here guys

Hey Venum, your info on the mods for the 4G15 DOHC engine were really helpful.I've a similar project going on.I did a conversion from 4G13 carb to the 4G15 DOHC.So far the only mods I've done include the installation of an adjustable fuel pressure regulator and K&N filter.I'm thinking about the addition of a multiple spark box.I also know this would require an upgrade of the spark plug wires. Can you or any of the other tuners help with the selection of a multiple spark box for this engine as well as where to get plug wires. All and any assistance will be helpful

Distributor type ignition right?
If so there are many msd units u can buy. All depends on your budget.
That fpr only makes sense with the msd unit. Plugs may also need to be changed and as for wires that may be tricky as u will need a spiral core set which would be hard to get for the dohc setup. May need a carb set and hopefully the plug holes won't get wet.

Nice thread, I have a 4g15T mivec from the company, came in d ralliart colt, no retune done yet, iv managed to raise boost to 15psi with no issue. I researched dyno sheets showing k&n panel filter works better in this context bay vs pod filter due to hot air intake by pod. Iv also done d cat back exhaust mod, what other mods can be done before I do a base dyno check? Aiming at about 200 whp on this one as that's enough power to get this lil weight going. Any input would be appreciated.

Plugs. Fuel filter. Injectors.
Seem to be a mis at lower rpm. Start with a general service and work from there. Pull out dizzy cap and check the electrode. I had a similar situation and I cleaned out the dizzy cap and I was good

Follow the sparkplugs then the wires that attaches to them to the end of the wire where 4 others plug into. That is the distributor cap.

Had the same with the gears slamming !! Change your tps and u should be ok ... Or it wants setting properly ... Been having the issue with the car jerking too ... Unplug the speed sensor and see if the problem is still there ... If that stops !! well start from there that worked for me but changing it won't help.. Have to still find the main source of this problem .. I have my speed sensor out right now .. Can't read the tach but rpm still works !!!

There is a return spring in the tranny that breaks over time, it helps the smooth transition of gears...see if that is causing it. I know nissan has them and causes this problem.
